In short: As always, a very well organised race. In full: Excellent organisation and a great mix of runners! Missed out on a PB by 18 secs this year which I am putting down to the wind although in reality it was probably my lack of fitness! Not as many spectators this year which was to be expected as it was very cold for them. Looking forward to next year and hopefully a little less windy! Date of review: February 4, 2008
In short: Fast, flat 'there-and-back' race with very efficient organisation. In full: This was one the most well organised events I have competed in. Chip timing, an efficient start that didn't require waiting around for hours (just a quick and amusing pre-race speech), great marshalling during the race preventing cars from interfering on open roads, and a text with your full result within 3 hours of finishing the race all contributed to this. The well renowned high PB potential of the course seemed to attract runners of a mixture of abilities. The pace this year however, was somewhat reduced by a tough Yorkshire headwind during the second half of the race. Not the most aesthetically pleasing of courses, but this didn't seem to put people off with the race fielding its largest number of entries to date. I will definitely be doing this race again. In short: My first race - well organised In full: My first race so now have a time for next year. Course is nothing to write home about but really well organised, lots of first timers. Really friendly crowd. Steven - Jane Tomlinson's son started us off. Date of review: February 4, 2008
In short: Superb organisation, good marshalling, friendly, and chip timed! In full: A great race - the new 9am start time allowed for minimal disruption -although there were still a few irate taxi drivers! Dealt with well by the Marshals. Entry price a little steep but good quality T-Shirt (this year!) and it was great to get chip timing...results were texted through within less than 2 hours of finishing. Nice (and funny) welcome from the PA. Exceptional organisation - Well recomended!
In short: Must be one of the best 10k's going In full: First Dewsbury 10k but everything was just about perfect. OK so scenery not great but who's seriously paying attention to the views whilst running? Organisation was perfect - many congratulations to Bernard Diskin & his team, all the marshalls, police, Guides and other volunteers. It's the often overlooked things that make this event so good - starting with clear instructions, plenty of parking and use of the leisure centre for pre-run changing & (hot) showers. Superbly efficient start & finish area with the posting of all results by 11.00! Chip timing excellent and text of time & position an unexpected bonus. Quick course, albeit running in to the wind in the second half didn't help. I can't fault this event - if only all races were to this standard. Well done DRR - looking forward to 2009 already!
