In short: An improvement on last year
In full: I moaned about the amount of cobbles on the route when I finished, but in hindsight I think the new course was better than last year - OK they threw back in a couple of the inclines from 2005 route, but it's still a pretty quick course (I took quite a bit off my PB). Some people are saying it was slightly long, but if it was then that just makes the finishing times a little better.

The start was better organised this year, but there were still far too many people up near the front that shouldn't have been anywhere near there - the organisers tried to control this, but it's a near impossible task with so many people running.

This is the third time that I've run the Bristol Half Marathon, and I can't remember the support ever being so good. It was fantastic to see so many spectators out supporting the runners. I really enjoyed it.

In short: opportunity to improve next year!!
In full: Really enjoyed the day and the support around the course was excellent. Great to see the youngsters helping out on the water stations and so many marshalls along the course. T shirt looks like it might be good when it arrives!! Cobbles were a nightmare, but I understand that the organisers had no choice but to include them to make up the distance. We tried to use the park and ride but no sign posts off the portway into the city didn't help, so we ended up driving into the city. Other than the cobbles, the course was good with just a few places where the runners were congested....I'll come again, but will hesitate if the price remains so high. Having read the other reviews, I'm glad I missed the goody bag....wasn't so goody by the sounds of it!!

In short: great race great course
In full: Really great atmosphere, plenty of loo's in village, baggage storage excellent.
Millenium Square great for before and after race, great friendly atmosphere.
Well done to all marshalls and especially the young people who manned the drinks stations, you all did great.
Goody bag was less than impressive, and the colour coded starting pens didn't work either, different colours all over the place.
A bit congested for first couple of miles, but what do you expect with a big city half.

In short: Promised much - delivered little.
In full: Narrow roads, cobbles, chaotic start and finish areas, no family reunion area, no tee-shirt (yet), joke goody bag - it's all been said by others. Certainly not worth the 400 mile round trip from Essex.
The organisers should visit Glasgow if they want to see how a major city half marathon should be done. How come this is a Grade 'A' race, and how come entries closed at 15,000 but only 8,500 finished on the day?
Well done the Bristol public - excellent support round the course.

In short: could've been better
In full: was my third go at the bristol, there were no toilets on route ok for the men but not plesent for the women!
Didn't get a goody bag but doesn't look like i missed much, the young cadets could've been a bit better behaved when it came to throwing energy drinks and water over people, also they got some of the chips mixed up meaning sometimes where not to the right name!
Other than that a good atmosphere and hopefully the next year it will be better organised!

P.S the cobbles were murder on my feet!!!

In short: i thought well organised but whats with the soup??!
In full: a good day was had by all, race was well marshaled, start was a bit slow and narrow for amount of runners though. Cobbles at end were a KILLER!!! Goody bag was 'interesting' to say the least!! Overall i would do this race again

In short: A fine main stream half marathon event, but severely lacking in key areas. Children should not be allowed to take charge of energy stations alone! I got soaked in gloop! Goodie bag had a lot to live up to - bath half marathon sets high standards/

In short: First ever half-marathon. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, Good weather.
In full: Good stuff - nice medal and plenty of fluids available. Good organisation of baggage and toilets at start. Crowds were uplifting when they got going.
Not so good stuff - cobbles, soup!, unable to find Haymarket at the end (I don't know Bristol that well) to get the P&R bus back to car. P&R was encouraged but no sign-posts to say which way to go afterwards! Ridiculous. Don't reccomend the Osborne Clarke Challenge either - my time is missing from the local paper and the website (as are my colleagues)!
