In short: Top Race
In full: Organisation was excellent. Plenty of smiling race marshalls, who were all very encouraging. Interesting/varied route and loved the river crossing. 45 degree hill at mile four sucked. Nice goody bag. Felt like a good old fashioned cross country race. Will do next year.

In short: Fantastic run! well organised. . . . . . and muddy!
In full: First real off road race I have done. I am converted! heard how tough it was from other runners, but you have to try it to believe it. Hill after hill after hill, but some of the down hill sections harder than the uphill ones! Very muddy, especially when you are middle to end of the pack, but the river crossing was refreshing at the end. . . wanted to do a belly flop into it but resisted the temptation. The race was extremely well organised, the marshalls were plenty and very encouraging and friendly . . . the best so far! Well done, will definately do this one next year

In short: A cracking race - you'll never have this much fun on the roads!
In full: I entered this on a bit of a whim, just looking for a local ten, but found I'd stumbled on an absolute gem. The first woodland section is pretty enough, though it's more or less single file. Then, after a bit of a meander along towpaths and past mills you come to the infamous Trooper Lane - half a mile of cobbles that feels like it's going straight up into the sky. The view of Halifax at the top makes it well worth it. Then it's alternating fast descents and short sharp uphills through woods and fields till the river crossing at the end which your feet will bless you for!
The ten and a bit took me a minute longer than the Leeds Half did last year, but the sense of achievement was so much greater. I've no doubts about signing up for this one next year.

In short: Forget PB's, put the fun back in running with this race!
In full: This is a tough race but that was made clear to everybody. It wasn't exactly 10 miles, and that was announced at the start. What wasn't said was just how much variety this race contains, and how satisfying it would feel at the end of the river crossing!
Great race, great organisation, definitely in my diary for next year!

In short: Hard going but fun
In full: Not one for those who like to keep their feet clean, although the river at the end does wonders at cleaning you up again.
It would have helped if there were warnings that this is actually longer than the 10 advertised miles.Getting to that last mile marker with no indication of where the end was was depressing after a really good run overall.

In short: My favourite race
In full: I enjoyed this race so much last year, I came back for more. I knew what to expect this year, so hung back at the beginning, and waited until after the walk up Trooper Lane (and it has to be a walk, I don't think you're human if you can run up that!) to really get going. I beat last years time by 13 minutes, so I'm well impressed. This race really does have everything - woodland, canal towpath, steep hills, views, roads (tarmac, concrete, cobbles and brick!), fields, footpaths, stiles etc. To cap it all, the amazing bluebells and that wonderful river crossing. I'll definitely be back.

In short: A lot harder race than I was lead to believe! But fantastic Scenery and views made up for it
In full: If I could do this again (which I can next year so hooray!) then I would take it a lot slower at the start knowing what was to come ahead! the hill at mile four was probably the steepest hill I have ever raced up. I didn't see anyone get up it without walking at some point!

the river crossing at the end was great fun and made for an interesting twist. Would definitely do this race again.
