In short: A fantastic unpretentious race, obviously organised by runners for runners In full: A point to point cross country trail run through some outstandingly beautiful countryside. A really friendly event with s scenic coach trip to begin and fabulous home made cakes at the finish. The marshals were very supportive as were the police and PCSOs. A huge thank you to all of you guys for giving the rest of us a truly memorable day. Date of review: April 11, 2010
In short: Fantastic scenery and a great experience. Will be back In full: Really enjoyed this race - especially in such great weather. Will be a lot harder in the mud. Ground was pretty rough and hard - especially on the knees. I can't believe how quickly the distance actually went but it is a touh challenge. Date of review: April 18, 2009
In short: Glorious scenery - a gentle introduction to off-roading. In full: I was surprised by how little serios climbing there was, most of the climbs and descents were long and gentle, and, overall, the route felt fairly flat. Having said that, I ran slowly because my feet blistered badly in the hot, dry conditions. Much of the route was as hard as concrete - I wish I had worn road shoes. That aside, it was a great, friendly race. Superb views and sweet organisation. I particularly appreciated the smiles and encouragement from marshals and police alike. Date of review: April 7, 2009
In short: Stunning run In full: My first point to point race. Police escorted coach journey to the start reminiscent of school days, Mainly trail with any road crossing superbly marshalled with the police escort helping out at the only major road crossing - Don't know how the PC's justified those choccy biscuits they were scoffing along with their breakfast in the Cafe in Overton though - Made very welcome at HQ & enjoyed the discussion I had in the kitchen regarding after race cake choice. One of the rare occasions that I was smiling before the start rather than wondering what I had signed up for. Have done over 40 races at different locations & this is way up there with the best. Recommended for those who like MT races with a few undulations Date of review: April 6, 2009
In short: A gem of a race In full: Another great Combe Gibbet Race. This is now the definitive off road race Point to point, stunning scenery, excellent organisation, some tough climbs, downhill finish, good facilities, home made cakes, I could go on but you get the picture - you don't? then join me in 2010.
In short: Great Day Out In full: Who needs post race mementos when the real prize is running through scenic countryside. The Combe Gibbet is a wonderful race, running along wooded pathways which open into lush green grassy fields. About 1 mile of road in total which is used to link up the off-road sections.
Friendly and well placed marshalls offered encouragement during the race.
In short: One for the 2010 Diary In full: Great point to point race with magnificent scenery, slick organisation and supportive marshals. If you have'nt done this race before - you need to experience it. Well done to everyone at Overton Harriers. Date of review: April 5, 2009
In short: Fantastic race, with stunning scenery In full: Really good, well organised race. Cracking views all the way through, and when you're hurting you have to remind yourself to look around! Coming off the Rough n Tumble, Terminator & Grizzly the hills weren't unbearable but it still makes a tough race. Will definitely be back. Date of review: April 1, 2008
