In short: A return after 3 years to the site of my first ever half marathon. Fantastic atmosphere made the round trip worth whilee
In full: A great race - yes, it's a long and tiring weekend if you live down south but fantastic to be part of such a big event with all the buzz and hype and amazing welcome from local people. I am convinced the hills have grown since my last visit three years ago, but amazingly I got a PB so clearly not too bad. I was very lucky to be put in one of the front pens; my only complaint would be the pen allocation system - my friend who had a very respectable time from last year's GNR was put in a pen right near the back and far further back than the difference in our times merited. Don't quite understand this ...!

In short: 4th GNR
In full: Organisation seems to improve each year... although the goody bag at the end was very poor, thought someone had pinched my snacks.

In short: My first GNR.
In full: I had wondered if it could really be worth the expense & hassle of a 750 mile round trip. Well it certainly was; fantastic atmosphere, great organisation, this really does deserve its prime slot in the running calendar. The starting zone system worked well, at least "B" seemed fairly even paced. An experience not to be missed. Well done Newcastle!

In short: 2nd time, will be back for more next year
In full: The only gripes were the poor goody bag, slow runners / walkers in fast pens (Orange B), and the hellish journey out of South Shields (3 hours to Newcastle!!)

In short: Enjoyable sunday
In full: Did not like the walkers in the early stage.Better organisation at the start. Could do with more massage people at the finish, only 9 very helpful massagers for all the runners.Could do with more food in the goody bag. Will be back again next year just for the fun on sunday and monday nights

In short: Great atmosphere, great course, but a run not a race.
In full: Considering the sheer volume of people, this was well organised. But do not go expecting to run a PB as people were walking by the Tyne bridge. Accept this, enjoy the atmosphere and you will have fun.

In short: Much improved on 2006!!
In full: Thought the start was greatly improved from 2006 and also 2005.
Not sure about having the baggage buses on Claremont Road as that many runners + only 35 leads to a bottleneck, go back to the system of having the buses at the back of the field, gives more room for changing and a warm-up.
Just one question, why is next year's race on 5 October? That is far too late.
