In short: Great race, great atmosphere, VERY busy on the race In full: This year was much harder to get into starting pen there were so many people. Shame they don't limit access to this area to runners only.
Bus travel home was much worse than last year as well.
But overall an EXCELLENT race and fantastic experience Date of review: September 22, 2010

In short: Left a decent impression on me In full: Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I'm a fan of the Bupa/Great Run events - they are expensive, true, but the sheer logistics of shutting off a major city, and providing for the thousands of runners hitting the streets surely leaves a hefty bill. The atmosphere was great throughout, the route was decent enough and the organisation was pretty seemless (I agree about the buses however - despite arriving in plenty of time, my bag made the 13.1 journey on the late luggage bus - despite some busses leaving seemingly empty). I'd like to think I'd make a habit of running this race however - smashing fun! Date of review: September 22, 2010

In full: A PB for me this year - not bad considering having to wade through an awful lot of people who seemed to be going a lot slower than the wave time would suggest. That aside, the GNR never fails to disappoint, with a great atmosphere from marshalls and spectators alike. Wasn't too keen on the Powerade Zero they dished out at the first energy stop, but the rest was great. Overall, highly recommended. Date of review: September 22, 2010

In short: Dull scener, tarmac, motorways, dual carriageways not very interesting...... In full: Luggage buses were dire, some not full set off early........toilets dire........expensive for what you get really......... Date of review: September 22, 2010

In short: Just Enjoy the day In full: My 1st GNR and I did not expect a PB - good job it was so crowded you spend alot of time dodging other runners/walkers. The people of Newcastle/Gateshead/South Shields are great offering ice pops drinks and sweets. Happy to have done it, hopefully will start further forward next year and get around faster. Well worth doing for the experience Date of review: September 22, 2010

In short: Just hoping for better weather in '11 In full: My second Great North and if I'm being brutally honest, the atmosphere wasn't quite there from 2009 but that was probably down to the weather more than anything. Good camaraderie between the runners though and the crowds who turned out certainly seemed to enjoy their day as much as the runners. I'll be back to go for a PB again next year...
