In short: A beltingly fast flat PB 5k! In full: Always a great test of pure speed, and general fitness. The first one of the year blows out some cobwebs for sure. You can get a bit of wind sometimes that can take the edge off your PB, otherwise its fast fast fast! And - congrats to the organisers for handling the disturbances as the Sports Centre is upgraded Date of review: May 7, 2008
In short: A great race for a first-timer, flat, quick and great scenery! In full: Despite being the last man across the finish line, I throughly enjoyed this race. It had a great atmosphere, and seemed to be populated by runners of all calibers. The organization was prompt, effective and friendly making my first-time nerves that little bit less.
Overall I had a great time, although I must do some speedwork before my next race! Date of review: August 9, 2007
In short: start a bit of a mess, couldnt hear starter and many others couldnt either until gun went off. In full: Apart from that fast and flat, slight headwind on way out which was nice as it was a very warm evening. Date of review: August 8, 2007
In short: Flat out and back course, fast but uninspiring and I HATE stadium circuits In full: Weather spot on, 450 entrants, practically flat course, no excuses not to achieve a PB....so why didn't I enjoy it more? Well, three circuits of the stadium interspersed with a towpath out and back with a sharp u-turn to make up the distance is not my favourite kind of run. I think with a bit more imagination ( Whale Island? Tipner?) this could be a fabulous race to do...this wasn't it! Lack of training and poor kit on my part didn't help ! Date of review: June 11, 2007
In short: An enjoyable, flat course with no nasty surprises around the corner In full: A bit tight for the majority of the course, especially the start in the stadium, but as runners spread out it became much less of an issue. Very well marshalled, with lots of potential for PBs. Date of review: June 8, 2007
