In short: room for improvement in the organisation but brilliant local support In full: Considering bad reviews in previous years ,I was pleasently surprised . The course itself gives you the feel that they want to get you out of the city ASAP. The local people who come out to support are the best anywhere, and their support with hose pipes and pop up water stations was fantastic . Thankyou Edinburgh Date of review: May 29, 2012

In short: Briliant event, great organisation. In full: Thoroughly enjoyable course and event, the locals lining the course were magic. Their hoses, sweeties and extra water stop were very helpful. T-shirt was really nice, the medal is nice aswell (until you turn it over then it looks like something else (you'll see what i mean)). great event and would definately do this again. In short: Very hot day and some of the scenery was great, easy first few miles which was predominately down hill. Took 14 minutes off my PB. In full: The only downside to the event was the 15 minute uphill walk from the finishing area to the buses to take me back to the City Centre. Didn't see too much off the City centre of edinburgh on the run but I'm glad as it's full of hills and steps!! Crowds were good and the locals were out with hosepipes and jelly babies. Would do again. Date of review: May 29, 2012

In short: Having een very critical over the water incident a few years ago and last year's fiasco, this ran a lot smoother from my standpoint so that is a well done to the organisers. In full: Plenty of water at all stops - essential with last Sunday's heat. A nice bi of inkering with the course to cut out the 20 mile mark dog leg up the hill. Finish area appeaed to be organised this tyear and managed properly. The only minor critiscism would be the distance to the baggage lorries however bearing in mind the layout of the park, that is a minor point. And a big 150% mark to Luca's ice cream parlour!! In short: Great weekend, great weather and great support In full: 1st marathon for me and I enjoyed it so much I will do another one. The only hassle was having to collect my race number which never arrived by post apart from that glitch the organisation was superb Date of review: May 29, 2012

In short: Doesn't quite live up to "fastest marathon in the world" In full: Scenic marathon but overpriced for what it is and the course support along the way. Comments about the weather are entirely fair because they could easily avoid the heat issue by starting it earlier, and as others have suggested, moving the half to the saturday or starting it later. Not overly impressed and wouldn't return Date of review: May 29, 2012

In short: Good course but fairly expensive. In full: If the weather is favourable then this could be a definite PB course.... but it's a big if as previous 4 years have been scorchers. Date of review: May 29, 2012

In short: The weather is the unpredictable element. Was scorching hot 2012 but can be wet & windy. In full: I really enjoyed the support from the very friendly and welcoming Scots. Lots of sweets and extra water being handed out and people using hoses and sprinklers to help us on our way. A lovely atmosphere and great potential for a PB as the course is mostly flat. The weather is a the unpredictable element as in recent years it has swung from scorching hot to wet and gale force. Be prepared for anything. Not one for the dressing up brigade as only one or two people went in fancy dress. Would recommend this run to semi serious runners and beyond and would definitely do it again. The organisation would appear to have improved from previous years with a little way to go until perfect but excellent nontheless. Date of review: May 29, 2012

In short: Amazing scenery, Amazing local supporters, friendly runners In full: I have just completed the Edinburgh Marathon and it was the best day ever. Yes it was hot, but the terrain was not too challenging which made my whole experience enjoyable. The local support was the best I have encountered and I would recommend this race to any runner or any standard. I am sure PB's suffered due to the heat! Date of review: May 29, 2012
