In short: Starting to creak at the seams a little?
In full: My 4th successive BG Half and the race is slightly starting to be a victim of its own success. Rain is always a distinct possibility for an event at Oct/Nov, but the car parking arrangements really showed the strain this time. Also the marshals with the 'If you are going to take this long, line up HERE at the start' need to be much more visible - I lined up exactly in line with the 1:45 guy and was passing run-walkers in the first two miles...

BUT all that said, there's always a really good atmosphere and plenty of local support considering we're in the middle of nowhere. And I think I have finally managed to conquer my fear of the 9-11.5 hill!

In short: Terrible weather but good race
In full: There were long queues for the car park even though I arrived well before race time. Parking was in a muddy field which with the heavy rain inevitably meant a lot of cars got stuck. The race itself was friendly and well organised and if the weather had been better an excellent day out. The course was good with some very challenging hills that seemed to go on forever. Everyone was friendly resulting in an excellent race atmosphere with a good mix of abilities. The medal was excellent and worth the effort of braving the conditions. All in all a good race which can only be improved by the weather.

In short: Fantastic race, one of favourite races of the year and I managed my all time pb - awesome.
In full: As ever, the race was held during inclement weather but it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the spectators or the runners. It soon cleared up and the course was as great as I remembered. Will definitely be back but I am not sure I will be able to run it quite as quickly as I did this time round!! One little gripe - the parking this year was treacherous and I nearly came a cropper on the way out - last years arrangements were better even tho we had to walk a little way to the start - I'd rather that than get stuck in a muddy field.

In short: Good village race with a nice local feel to it
In full: This was my first Barns Green 1/2 and I have heard from many that this is a tough one. It didn't disappoint! There seemed to be no let up on the ascent from about 9 - 11 (in fact the whole race felt like it was uphill!)
Well organised though and apart from some car parking issues and a bit of a poor goody bag (chocolate is not great after 13 miles) i will be back next year....

In short: Goody bag needed another 2 fingers on the kit kat at least
In full: This was an enjoyable well organised event. Even the parking system worked well, you would never have known that there were 1500+ runners. The fancy dress competition added a fun element. I loved the 2 guys in the Mime outfits, they were great!! did they win the prize? Must of.
Great atmosphere and lots of cake and tea after
Looking forward to next year.
