In short: Simply if this race was a movie it would be The Godfather. In full: This race lives up to the hype you hear about it from the organisation, spirit, scenery, crowds and not forgetting toughness. If you only do one marathon make sure its this one you just have to experience it. Date of review: October 30, 2014
In short: The best just keeps getting better. In full: I love this race - so friendly, welcoming, beautiful, challenging. Next year will be my 10th consecutive running of it and I can't wait. Once run you're hooked. Date of review: October 29, 2014
In short: Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. In full: Snowdon doesn't just tick all the boxes, it gets out its crayons and book, draws a load of new boxes and ticks those too. Everything from the faultless registration, to the freebie t-shirt and wonderful slate finisher's coaster to the lovely hoody I bought helped to make this race so special, and that's before I get onto the run itself. The humour and camaraderie between the runners, knowing that you are setting off on reportedly the UK's toughest marathon sets the scene for the most beautiful sights I've ever run through. However, when they say its tough, good grief, they are not lying, it was ball boucingly hard. The gain from mile 22-25 255 metres (that's not including the other two monsters during the race). Even though it my slowest time by far, this is by some distance, the best marathon I've ever done. It is no wonder its been twice voted the UK's best marathon.
In short: A must do marathon!! In full: This was my first marathon and as the reviews I'd read had said - this is a very special race. The scenery is stunning, organisation faultless and the camaradarie amongst runners and the support is something else. I particularly remember a point when it was getting tough and a family started chanting my name (your name is printed above your race number in large letters). It's like this all the way round and there is especially great atmospheres at halfway and the finish. The route is tough but enjoyable! I'll definitely be back! Date of review: October 29, 2014
In short: 6th time and still loving every second In full: I really love this race, have done 12 marathons and 6 have been Snowdonia. A fantastic race, well organised, great value, scenery to die for, awesome supporters. Nothing in the world can beat the feeling you get at the top of the pass and that view opens up before you as you start the only 4 mile descent in marathons! Slight niggle is that i just paid £32 for 4 download images, £8 for a click is ok for one picture, but discount for multiples would be appreciated. Date of review: October 29, 2014
In short: AMAZING RACE - HOW SWEET THOU ART!!! In full: Where else can you run fast downhill for 4 miles? It's between mile 4 and 8 in Snowdonia marathon, but it's one of the best running experiences out there. The rest of the course if fab too... Challenging, forgiving, tough and exhilarating... The other runners, race support and organisation in general are great, it's a brilliant race and see you next year...
In short: Phenomenal In full: A brilliant event, can't praise it enough. Not one for a PB, but an amazing sense of achievement. 3 main climbs, the first one is long but legs are fresh and no problem if you take it steady. The next is shorter and slightly steeper (or does it just feel that way as its after half way).... the final one is tough (i needed a couple of walking breaks); The hardest part is the downhill at the end, but you forget that as soon as you get to the high street and the phenomenal supporters cheer you to the finish :-) I'll definately be back Date of review: October 27, 2014
In short: Only three hills really, but they are very tough! In full: A great race! Very well-organised and friendly. Plenty of water /isotonic drinks /gels available around the route, topped up by others offering jelly babies etc. The last hill is very, very steep - both up and down. I will definitely be back to have another go. Date of review: October 27, 2014
