In short: Unique. Magic. Special. In full: "Did you beat the train?" people ask. No, not even close, but I got a good way further than last time before the second train passed me! Brilliant atmosphere and organisation. Nicely turned out locos too (essential, one feels, for a race of this nature :). Date of review: August 22, 2005

In short: This race is crazy !! VERY ENJOYABLE, a great day out for the whole family !!!! In full: Apart from the one mile between 7 & 8 which could be classed as being complete madness ( I would love to see the risk assesment for that mile LOL), the course is fab, the views are amazing (thats if your not looking at your feet) and the marshalls friendly. The hard training obviously worked as I ran loads quicker than I hoped and so get a PB. The beer tent at the end was a great welcome and it was so nice not to be robbed blind by the organizers. Cant wait to try again next year to try and beat at least the 2nd train. Date of review: August 22, 2005

In short: Not a 10k pb... In full: Good fun and nothing really bad to say. My only changes would be: Organisation and information a bit sketchy. Pre-race didn't know whether I had to order a train ticket etc. baggage deposit, parking and other small things all a bit obvious but still uncertain.
Apart from this is was still great... would have liked more mud ;-) Date of review: August 22, 2005

In short: A grand day out In full: Having no opportunity to overtake on the track on the way back made the whole thing that much better (as I could go slower and enjoy the scenery). Missed the train both ways but great support and atmosphere. In short brilliant. Date of review: August 22, 2005

In short: brilliant! In full: My first Race the Train and it delivered everything everyone said it would - challenging course but beautiful, great organisation (but what else would you expect from Rotary?) friendly crowd esp if you're on your own, enough to keep the family entertained, excellent marshalls and drinks stations, oh, and first black toe nail emerging since the FLM. Look forward to next year! Date of review: August 22, 2005
