In short: Terrific setting, quite tough but rewarding course, grandstand finish! In full: First time at this race and I really enjoyed it. Great setting, 'big event' feel to the race and impeccable organisation. Excellent for spectators too - my kids were able to see me 4 times during the race, without moving much. The hills are steady but quite long (2 x 1.5k and 1 x 0.5k) so yes a PB would be tough, but what goes up must come down and I still managed my 3rd best time. Good medal and practical goody bag (water, milkshake, energy drinks and gels). Thoroughly recommend. Date of review: February 9, 2010

In short: Hilly In full: Excellent venue.
Slightly delayed start could have benefitted from more announcements (the 'runners village' area was excellent for this though, as was the finish).
Mile markers were an odd choice and difficult to spot for people in the main body of runners.
Challenge of the course seemed to be welcomed by most and the finish towards the grand house was very impressive. Date of review: February 9, 2010

In short: Hilly 10k In full: Really enjoyed this race. The venue was perfect and the finishing straight is magnificent. Contrary to other comments, I am happy with mile markers on a 10k race although can see how some would find it annoying. On that note, my Garmin matched bang on with the distance so that was a good thing. Pretty serious hills although the downhills were perfect for getting a nice fast pace up over some distance (I recorded my fastest ever outdoor mile for the second mile). Managed a PB and will be interested to see if I can reduce further on a flatter course. Date of review: February 9, 2010

In short: 2009 reviews don't do the hills justice - my legs are in bits!! In full: Great administration, thanks to all the volunteers, it's normally a thankless task but you did great. Well done the cadets.
Great scenery, great hills. The running I do locally in Avon and Somerset includes some great hills so good training for this type of race. I will come back next year and aim for a faster time. Roll on Forest of Dean Half. Date of review: February 9, 2010

In short: Nothing like the finish heading down to Longleat house. After all those hills it is a wlelcome relief In full: Had a fab time as usual. Benji loved it too. He was a great help up the hills and the support he gets on the way round is wonderful. He helped me to knock a minute and a half off my previous best! Date of review: February 9, 2010

In full: The sense of achievement at the end made it all worth while! The hills were far tougher than any that I encounter in my normal training runs and so really took it out of me, but an enjoyable Sunday morning nonetheless. No chance of a PB but there was a great atmosphere at the start and plenty of words of encouragment on the way round, so well worth another go next year. Excellent medal too! In short: Great place to run but quite tough In full: Lovely scenery, well organised, easy parking, great Lion medal, and generous goodies. Not enough toilets and definitely not PB material. Date of review: February 8, 2010
