In full: Must be on of the best organised and friendliest road events in the UK.
What a great day galluping over the roads of Dartmoor.
An event that many people will just keep returning to every year.

In full: Fantastic - the organisation,marshals,helpers all so supportive to encourage all to get to the finish.
A wonderful event - other organisers could learn a lot from this event.
Perhaps the word is out as this year was a record entry !
Oh - the route is a tough one - but its all about looking after all the runners - this year even sending a car along the route offering runners extra water as it was so hot !

In short: Top quality race from start to 27.5 miles where I gave up! I will be back to complete it...
In full: The organisation from the race pack through all the emails from the Phil the race director is untouched in quality. This continues throughout the day. The step up from a marathon is quite a big one especially taking the terrain into account, maybe a little on the warm side too this year. Scenery is great and you get plenty of chance to take it all in at the speed the race is run towards the middle/back of the field! Back in 2008 to complete it!

In short: Well run but Tough, really needs a water station before 7 miles, after that the water stations are well spaced. Very Enjoyable but did I say it was tough?

In full: MY FIRST ULTRA. nEVER REALISED DARTMOOR HILLS WERE SO STEEP. i AM USED TO RUNNING AROUND BODMIN MOOR BUT THIS WAS SOMETHING ELSE.
STRUGGLED FROM 21 MILES AN MISSED MY GOAL BY 50 MINUTES. WAS ACHING, CRAMPING, DEHYDRATED,SICK, SUNBURNT, KNACKERED.
WOULD I DO IT AGAIN. YOU BET I WOULD, BEATS FINISHING LONDON MARATHON BY A COUNTRY MILE (OR 6)

In full: This event is just amazing. I there are no stories or pictures or words that can fully do this justice, you have to participate to fully experience the wonders of the Dartmoor Discovery.
This is arguably the best race in the country.

Dartmoor Ultra - My first ultra and learnt a lot.
Anyway, the first thing to say about Dartmoor is to praise the first class organisation – essential given the elements. I should have know it would be a hard when the organiser requested details of what service I was in army, navy or air ....
Great advice via email prior to the race, OK so I did not read the bit about not drinking alcohol in the weeks prior to the race and the training schedule went out the window with children’s half term.
On the day it was hot, very hot, mirage hot - over 80, thank god for the advice about white hats and thank god for the numerous water stationed manned by fantastic and committed young navy and air cadets who deserve real credit.
While I made sure I was last over the line at the start I soon ended up running with Marathon veteran Carol from North Devon Runners, who kept us on course for a 6.30 finish time, we ran through some great lush green valleys, however I lost her on the hill out of Ashburton. Incredibly when my wife’s car broke down outside the same town (see even the cars could not make the Dartmoor hills) it was her husband and young son who rescued her...so many thanks
While the course was long it was never boring and the wedding reception at Two bridges failed to hold up their wedding photos for us, I never felt like giving up.
Finishing was incredible, however relief and joy was soon overtaken with dispair when I realised I had misread the GPS and had not finished at 6.55 but at 7.04 so now I will have to do it again……
With regard to my feet, I had failed to factor in the steepness of hills and finished with blisters on the tops of my toes and heels.
Great experience, everyone should do dartmoor once (or twice if you go over 7 hours)

In full: You cant beat the scenery in this race plus the organization is spot on.This was my first ultra and i loved it ok the hills were tough and it was very hot but this is a classic .I'll be back next year.

In short: Hilly, hot and not for the faint hearted - but then it is an ultra after all.
In full: My first ultra experience could not have been better, quicker yes but not better. Don't get me wrong the course is tough and the hot sunshine did little to help. Having gone sub 5:00 though in the conditions I was pleased. The race organization and totally enthusiastic support of all the volunteers was fantastic. From newcomer to grizzled ultra veteran alike I have yet to see a bad word against the 06 DD experience. If you ever plan to do an ultra in the UK then this must be the one to do. You won't regret it :-)
