In short: Great run
In full: I really enjoyed this race, despite the poor weather at the start. Would do it again. Nice to make a weekend of it.

In short: Undulating city centre and rural course, good atmosphere
In full: Well supported event, despite the pretty nasty wet/windy weather.
Course undulates (my garmin said almost 1000feet climbing) but no slope too tough, although 1 short/sharp rise late on out of the park (11.5miles)
Route was well marshalled, no problems there and plenty of water available (although as someone mentioned, positioned near bottom of hills when hard to drink when your lungs are doing overtime climbing!!)
A concern was having to collect timing chips over an hour before the race, parking not cheap (add extra hour for the chip), and having travelled over 100miles to compete, would have been uncomfortably early start had the clocks not moved that weekend.
I enjoyed the courses challenges and managed a PB, although I was hoping to go a little faster. Not sure it's a genuine PB course, as I hadn't done a half for 8 months and have got a little faster.
The start inside the castle was a nice touch (if not a little cramped for the 1st few minutes - big event with slower runners starting a little far forward) Also enjoyed the running track finish, very smooth, pity the whole course couldn't be so bouncy, haha.
Would I do the event again? Maybe? If it was closer I probably would, but not sure about travelling so far for this half marathon. Then again I may just be back for another go next year, have to wait and see.

In short: Really enjoyed it. Will definately do again.
In full: Just read some poor reviews below ! Stop griping you lot. Ok the weather wasn't great but better that than running in really hot sun. The day was great, the people friendly and the atmosphere uplifting. Well done to all involved.

In short: brilliant race
In full: I thoroughly enjoyed my first attempt on the new route. Fantastic numbers. Weather was horrendous but it did not affect my enjoyment of the race. Will be back for more next year!

In short: Good race, but organisation (and the weather) could be improved
In full: Pre-race organisation left a lot to be desired. Timing chips could have been sent in the post, and the race guide would be improved with a street map of the city centre clearly showing the start, finish, car parks, bag drop etc.

The route was on the whole scenic and challenging, and the crowds in Wetheral and Scotby enthusiastic (esp. given the weather). Didn't enjoy the section on the poor paths in the park around the 11-mile mark, nor the energy-sapping gym mat on top of the cattle grid!

Marshalls were friendly and helpful, though the water stations could have been better situated. The first three were all at the foot of a hill.

Goody bag & medal were ok, nice t-shirt.
