In short: Home town race that always delivers In full: Probably the only must do race of the year for me these days. A summer without doing either the half or the 10k isn't good...luckily only 2007 have i missed either in the last 10 years.
Well polished, so much so that adding the 10k a few years ago worked seemlessly.
Incredible goody bag, nice medals, and free t shirts, different versions of each depending on which race you'd done. Great effort there.
Very tough course, probably as tough a road race as you'll find really, at least in these parts. Very varied though, steep hill, rolling countryside, undulations, even steeper shorter descent, couple of residential miles, round a lake, and then grassy finish...lovely.
For the guy who said the start is narrow..behave yourself. It's the widest start I've ever seen in 120+ races! It might narrow a little, but only after 600metres or so when things have eased a bit. If you want to see narrow, try the footpath at about 6.5miles in the half.
All round a great race. Pleased to come 6th in 36.47 today. 57 secs off the pb, but anyone pbing here has got a soft pb! Date of review: July 17, 2011

In short: Once you're over the hill it becomes easy In full: The hill at the start was a bit of a stinker but once that was done I really loved this race. The goody bag was exceptional and got a great new medal and top. Kids loved the fun run too. Highly recommend.

In short: Challenging and organised In full: Not an easy race but well worth the effort. Slick organisation with medal, technical t-shirt and goody bag topping off a great event. If only the organisers could do something about the weather! Date of review: July 17, 2011

In short: A nice challenge with good reward In full: Do not be put off by the hill at the start the down hill is the challenge for your knees (or rather mine). Good well organized race. Goody bag excellent the technical t-shirt excellent and the medal very Impressive. well worth the trip and the money (other races need to be nearer to this standard) will be back next year to try to beat my new pb set today Many thanks handy cross runners for a great day. In short: Brilliant organisation and great goody bag, but you have to earn it In full: That hill in the 2nd k is tough, and it hits you before you're really warmed up so it's hard work. From then on there are constant minor undulations to keep you on your toes, before an even steeper downhill - I'm glad they don't run it in reverse! Ninth k through the trees was very slippery & needed a bit of care (one of the leaders came a cropper), but there is really nothing to criticise even constructively at this event - it all went very well. And the goody bag for the money is excellent - technical t-shirt, nice medal, food, drink & various assorted goodies, so thank you to the generous sponsors.
Would I do it again? Yes, but I'd do some extra hill training first! Date of review: July 17, 2011

In short: Like clockwork In full: Its not the prettiest of courses, but offers a decent challenge. Slightly lacking in atmosphere, but thats down to the competitors really, I must go faster or slower to find the friendly folk I guess. Great value, massive goody bag with very little I won't use. Puts bigger, costlier races to shame Date of review: July 17, 2011

In short: Nice challenging run In full: Overall the race was very well organised. The announcer was entertaining, and did well to get people ready for the race, by clearly notifying all the runners how much time was left before the race started. The one downside was that, at certain points the running path got very narrow. However, the goodie bag, medal and T-shirt received at the end of the race made up for any downside. Great race!!! In short: Killer hill but lovely scenery and enthusiastic marshalls made this race enjoyable In full: Once the hill is out of the way this is a great fun race through lovely scenery and mostly traffic free. The marshalls were friendly - especially the one making sure the half marathon and 10k runners went the right way as the races split. Great goody bag, nice medal and t-shirt made this an enjoyable race. Date of review: July 17, 2011
