In short: Weather and last two miles made this pb course somewhat disappointing...
In full: Was on for a pb up to 8miles...but the last two miles bodged that up n i only managed to run a 61. Having travelled all the way from Barnsley that was a tad gutting!!! Cant do owt bout the weather tho eh!
Apart from that it was a good race, would consider doing it agian.

In short: good atmopshere but the roads need widening!
In full: all in all this was a good run with plenty of support (despite the weather). The course is fast but the last 2 miles would challenge most to go below their PB. My issues came with organisation. I took a charity place and was in the Green wave. I was on the back of the White wave within 1.5 miles and the back of the Orange within 3... i spent a lot of time behind people who should have started further back... I'd definately do the race again and would hope for a better starting position!

In short: This is the 3rd year I have done this race and didn't enjoy it as much as before.
In full: The race was well organised but delayed start meant standing around for even longer in the cold.

Thank you to all the marshalls and spectators that stood out in the rain and wind to cheer us on - it was much appreciated.

Paying £3 to park was a bit much. I was lucky enough to be able to leave the car park by about 12.15 so didn't have to queue. However I feel that the race entry fee was high enough for the car parking fees to be taken from that. The "professionally managed car parking experience" didn't appear to be any better than last year or the year before.

Having said that I enjoyed the race, although the last two miles felt as if I was going backwards.

Thanks again to all the supporters.

In short: First experience of such a large event, not sure if it is my scene
In full: Very mixed feelings about this event, organisation and loos pretty good, incredibly slow start, I think that I'm a slow runner but I couldn't get going for first 2 miles and spent all the race overtaking, should have started at the front of the white wave, not towards the back.I actually enjoyed the last 2 miles into the wind! Getting off the car park was a total nightmare, no guidance at all as how to get out, eventually left E bound as that was moving and looped around back to the motorway.

In short: Not bad - despite the weather
In full: This was my first Great South Run, although I would now consider myself an experienced 'Great Run' runner. The Great South is similar to the Great North (albeit smaller), don't hope for a PB or an earth shattering fast run, but just enjoy the atmosphere and the humbling experience of taking part in somthing that is raising serious money for charity.

Yes the weather was horrible, yes the course was lonely in places, yes I was irritated by people walking (in 3's and 4's) - but, the support from the people of Portsmouth was great and the organisation was in my opinion resonably good.

There has been lots of talk about poor parking, a bit of pre planning would have solved the problems. I parked in one of the town centre car parks as advised on the Great Run website - it cost me £4 and only took me 20 minutes to leave after the race, I will definately park in the town next year. All in all a good run, the medals are always of good quality and I enjoyed the lucozade energy bar at the end - which is much better than one race I recently attended where they gave a packet of cold soup (YUM)

In short: Despite the grotty weather, still fun ...
In full: Mostly well organised overall except that it took us the same amount of time to get out of the car park as it did for me to run the whole 10 miles ... 1 hour 35! Yucky weather meant the last 2 miles along the sea front was energy-sapping - strong wind and horizontal rain in your face! Never appreciated before how spoilt I was with the sunshine of 2005's GSR.
First 8 miles were enjoyable and a lot of that was to do with the terrific crowd support ... huge thanks to all those wonderful supporters standing out in that horrible weather to cheer the runners on, they deserve a medal too!

In short: Great atmosphere and challenging finish. Terrible car parking.
In full: I dont know how to rate this really as I really enjoyed it, and managed a PB, but the trip home was really bad and possibly not worth it. I parked in the £3 car park, but no-one asked me for any money. The stewards need to be replaced.
Unlike everyone else it seems, I really enjoyed the final two miles. Eye of the Tiger - perfect finishing music.
