In short: Cold driving rain didn't show it at it's best, but great atmosphere and very well organised. Date of review: November 22, 2010

In short: As a beginner, it was a really good experience. In full: This was my first race ever. Never even been to a race as a visitor before let alone a competitor. I thought the organisation was good leading up to the race (email coms etc) and was good on the day.
I hope they keep doing this race again next year, as I definitely plan to beat what is now my PB!
Thanks to Will and DB Max. Date of review: November 22, 2010

In short: A reliable and enjoyable event on a fascinating course. In full: I see with some surprise that this is the fourth time that I have run in this event. I ran once in 2008, twice in 2009 and may well run twice this year too. Why do I keep coming back? Well, there is something about this Castle Combe motor racing circuit that says to me "I am a fast course" and that, together with exemplary organisation by dbMax, seems to draw me back. The dbMax team are making quite a name for themselves as they expand their range of events and if they are all like this, I wish them well. (I suspect that they are; I took part in the Trowbridge Triathlon this August and that was excellent too.)
There is not a lot to add to my previous reviews. Advance information via the website is excellent and the location is quite obviously set up with loads of competitor and spectator parking and facilities. I was accompanied by two members of my family this time and they both took part in the duathlon (run-bike-run) which took place on the same circuit a couple of hours earlier. It's a good location to be a spectator as well as be a competitor.
The 10k is pretty strightforward - no routefinding challenges here! The course is in open countryside, so competitors usually have to be prepared for a headwind somewhere on the circuit. One drinks station en route, so you pass it every three kilometres. The finishing spur is well laid out and the chip timing process works well. Results are posted very quickly and there is a medal too. I must say that I would not mind not receiving a goody bag at this event and would be happy just to be handed the medal and a cereal bar, rather than a large and nearly empty carrier bag, but that is the only suggestion that I have for improvement.
In conclusion, this is a great 10k run and you know exactly what you are going to get. Give it a try! Date of review: September 15, 2010

In short: Good, fairly challenging 10k 3 times around the track at Castle Combe. In full: Overall a good race, the course is mildly challenging. More hilly than I was expecting (they weren't large more long and gentle). As the circuit is exposed even though it was a warm mild day there was quite a head wind at some points. Not much to look at on the way round. Good facilities, although food rather expensive, ran out of goody bags though, would recommend as an good race but there are nicer ones out there. In full: This was the only race I have ever entered where not only was there no form to fill in to actually enter the race, but there were no bibs either! I was told to write my no. down on my hand with a felt tip pen and would receive a special price of £12 for the lack of number!
At least the chip timing worked but this race was an organisational shambles. How can you charge £14 for a 10k with a field of less than 200 with one marshal handing out drinks at one station and not have sufficient entry forms or race numbers and no initiative as to how to cope with the situation (like writing the number on a blank piece of paper and asking people to display it in the usual manner!?)
Very poor........

In short: Run for nothing In full: Ran the race, found out they had an explosion of entries on the day. I pre-registered with my brother in law and when we finished no medals as they had run out!! Since then the organisers have fobbed us off with excuses like the the t-shirts are still at the printers (medium for everyone?). Do it again, no chance!! Date of review: April 7, 2010

In full: Really enjoyed running on the smooth flat circuit. The event was very well organised and you could keep warm until just prior to the start of the race. The course is pretty windy in parts, but my husband and I both PB'd on the day and we'll definitely be doing this race again. Date of review: April 1, 2010

In short: set a new PB, a flat motor racing circuit, theres always got to be potential! In full: A good race slightly marred by the trek around the outside of the track to the start line, muddy trainers and I had only just washed them after the last one! The circuit being on the Cotswold Hills and slightly exposed does tend to suffer a bit with the wind and rain, thankfully no downpour just a bit of mist. Date of review: March 6, 2010
