In short: A nice course but it was definitely short.
In full: The part across the grass was not marked out clearly. On the second lap one of the runners near me told the marshalls to indicate to the runners where they should go which they then did. The area needed to be taped off to make it clear. My gps made it 0.4km short.

In full: This was a great race for my first 10k race - though the hill near the grassy part seemed to get steeper and steeper per lap and it didn't stop raining.

Surprised to see so many people saying they thought the route was less than 10k, but then again both my husband (who finished on 51 mins) and myself (just under 63 mins) both saw loads of people cutting corners - particularly across the grassy section.
Marshals were ignored. Instead of running across the grassy section by going around the tree and to the facing lamp post, a lot of runners just cut across the grass probably cutting a significant amount off the distance if they didd it on every lap! This all despite the 2 marshalls both shouting "you need to go around the lamp post". Maybe a signpost or a few markers on the ground next year might help with this difficulty?

But before you question the distance ask did you cut out the corner?

The marshall on the first turn was particularly helpful - shouting encouragement on each lap, which was much appreciated - that and the 2 girls on the last lap by the above mentioned lamppost who were shouting encouragement.

Where there were gates across the path (near the road, and near the start/finish lap) there tended to be a little conjestion caused by other park users not realising there was a race going on so going really slowly through the gates as runners tried to get past them.

Kev nearly fell over a pushchair, kid on a scooter and a dog

Oh that and a car backing into a marshall, causing a pile up of park walkers and runners - i narrowly avoiding falling flat on my face.

Given the conditions and the narrow paths the event was very well organised and marshaled

In short: A good fun run on a bad day weather wise
In full: Many thanks to all the marshalls and stewards who stood out in awful weather, donating their time for a worthy cause. Looking forward to 2010 already come rain or shine (but it'll probably rain again).

In short: Even though the weather was shocking, cold and heavy rain it was a really good race. Doing 4 laps made the run really enoyable.

In short: Could be a really good event.
In full: It’s a shame about the negative comments regarding this race, but once again the course seemed woefully short of 10k. I recorded a PB by nearly two minutes and didn‘t run exceptionally well. I ran this race two years ago, and exactly the same problem . . . it’s not as though they haven’t got the space! Despite the course problems, there was some sterling work and enthusiasm from the organisers and marshalls in the bad weather. This event could attract a much bigger field with local club participation if they sorted out the course and had a race HQ – maybe the cricket pavilion and bar in the park? Despite the gripes, will be back next year!

In short: Nice Sunday park run
In full: Shame about the rain, but aside from that a nice morning, good organisation and surpport from the marshall (thank you), shame about the distance, but still a good day.
