In full: The course was much improved over last year and I hugely enjoyed the day. Goody bag collection more organised and got a T-Shirt that fits this year!
Lovely scenery through Cardiff Bay and Roath park although there were a few bottlenecks at times. Plenty of refreshments along the way. Supportive crowd.

In short: A very good event, well organised, great route, almost flat, enthusiastic crowds, nice T-shirt; but parts of the route were narrow which made maintaining pace difficult, also too jammed after the finish when getting medal and goody bag.

In short: That's more like it!
In full: Didn't do last year as 2010 put me off. Really enjoyed the course this year, view if the bay, Millennium Centre and Roath Park were great! Start still needs sorting out, was in pink start, not obvious how to get there and white start looked huge - should have split this into two or three. Also leaving a gap between waves might have spread the field more - was quite crowded for first few miles, though nowhere near as bad as 2012. Bag drop hugely improved too. It's now getting very close to getting on par with the Reading Half as one of the best in the UK - certainly much more scenic! It even managed to stay dry!

In short: Well-organised, improved course, great support
In full: Like others who have rated this year's Cardiff Half I also think this was an improvement on 2011. Much better at the start and a more scenic route (sure, there were hills, but this is south Wales, right?). Very helpful and friendly stewards and volunteers (thank you), and altogether a most pleasant atmosphere all round. I may even use my new t-shirt.

In short: Well done to the organizers
In full: Well done to everyone who helped at the race today, from the lads doing the baggage area to the marshals giving water out, Steve Brace, Dereck and Graham who I know have put so much work in to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Everyone seems to be have been quick to criticize in past races, well for me this was close to as good as it gets,no problem with the start, the course was good, yes there were a few small hills come on you cant run 13 mile and expext it to be completely flat, and the support on route was as good as the London Marathon in places fairplay,oh just for the record I had 13.2 miles on my Garmin well done Graham ...

In short: Good course, great support!
In full: This was my first time for this race and I was surprised how crowded it was. This led to a couple of bottle-necks around the route where the pace slowed to a walk. The route is otherwise undulating, varied and with truly excellent crowd support throughout. My main grouse was poor organisation after the finish - long queues to get the medal and goody bag and it was very difficult to find the meeting point which was not signed and the marshals weren't sure where it was. Very nice T-shirt but I really badly wanted to find a cereal bar in the goody bag.

In full: Positives - atmposphere and crowds were fantastic - about the best supported half marathon I've done and the marshalls were great. Negatives - start far too crowded as were miles 1 - 3, too tighly packed to see what's going on - tripped over a traffic cone(and saw a few other stumble and one kiss the pavement later on while they were trying to overtake a gaggle of walkers - nothing against walkers but should start towards the back of the pack). Given the numbers it really needs a wave start as seems to have been suggested for several years. PB chances close to zero if you were starting anywhere near the middle/back. Wave start would cure it all in my view

In short: Excellent city race
In full: Well done Steve Brace! The Cardiff Half has finally become what it always had the potential to be - one of the best city races in the UK. I've run it five times in the last six years and this year was the best experience by a very wide margin. The new course was a massive improvement on the Ely link dual carriageway of last year. The loop around Roath Park was excellent and the crowd support loud and encouraging in many parts of the course.THanks to the marshalls too for doing a great job.
