In short: A pleasant run which could be improved by better organisation In full: This run follows a very pleasant route that is not very challanging. A number of things could have made it better however.
The biggest problem was the organisation was very amatuer considering we paid a relatively high entrance fee.
There no information posted and so registration and the collection of chips etc relied on a process very reminicent of my school days.
That's fine, but this was the same organisation that carried forwards to to the end of the race. From the finishing line we all had to go through a tent to collect our goodies bag (including water). Unfortuantely they stuck the result board at the end of this tent. This meant we had to wait 10 minutes after finishing the run before we got anything to hydrate ourselves. This really isn't good enough. Date of review: September 14, 2010
In short: Great race. In full: What a brilliant race very well organised and value for money my only big gripe would be is that there were no xl or large t-shirts left when i had finished. Date of review: August 29, 2010
In short: Good challenge at a nice race In full: I enjoyed this race - organisation pre-race was fine (if you turned up early enough) and there was never any dreaded super-long queue for the toilet!! Out on the course I could have done with a second water stop (first one was almost too early), but I don't know where it could have been safely sited that would have been useful. I could imagine that some of the narrow paths, plus the road section would have been difficult where there were big groups together, but for me, near the back, that posed no such problem. Overall a friendly race, and sausages in the goody bag! Date of review: August 29, 2010
In short: Good fun for all In full: A very pleasant run around Stratford, taking in some pleasant scenery, and THAT greenway (for veterans of the marathon, its the bit between 23-25 miles. The memory hit me like a 'Nam flashback...)Great finish, along the river and next to the RSC theatre. A good course and definite PB promise. Interesting goody bag too - meaty! In short: Good atmosphere, good fun, lose the chip timing In full: A really enjoyable race, lovely route and well marshalled. Had two friends running 10k for the first time and they absolutely loved it too.
I think the size of the race doesn't really merit chip timing - I'd get rid of this and lower the price. Also, a bit of thought should be put into laying out the admin side for next time - where to put desks etc, to avoid big queues and bottlenecks for number collecting at the start and getting shot of your chip at the end.
Sausages in the goody bag were very welcome. I suppose it would be too much to ask that they get rid of the chip timing and give us a steak next year? Date of review: August 29, 2010
In short: Excellent - well run, with nothing to upset the picky and experienced whiule remaining welcoming to first-timers In full: Couple of stiff hills knock out-and-out PB potential but it's a great race with a semi-grandstand finish. Date of review: August 29, 2010
In short: very enjoyable race, friendly encouraging marshalls, will do again In full: very warm day!water stops in great position after hard slog up hill. Not my quickest time but came 3rd (2nd male)and won £15 brilliant!I've done 2 winter races and this is my first summer one defo be back for next one Date of review: July 10, 2010
In short: Great day and weather, however turning it into a 12k was interesting........... In full: Having to return for the second race to be able to say I've ran the correct route! Due to a very helpful local, five of us missed the turn-off past the water station so became lost, but fortunately were rescued by one of the organisers, so were then able to complete the last mile. Partly due aswell, in my opinion, to a lack of marshalls. Is the club so small it is that difficult to find volunteers? Disappointing that so few runners turned up too; let's hope all round there is an improvement this saturday! Date of review: July 6, 2010
