In short: Special race because it's local, but there IS room for improvement.
In full: A change of route this year and a more challenging one too. The race began and ended in West Ham Park, where I had many a school PE lesson! A far greater turn-out this year led to a more vibrant atmosphere. Tessa Sanderson was there as well as former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies.

NEGATIVE: The race start was rather cramped, but after exiting the park, it was okay. Apart from West Ham Park and the partially completed 2012 Olympic stadium, the route won't be interesting to outsiders. The km markers really need to be more frequent and prominent, the only way you knew that half the race had been completed was when you reached the stadium. The water stations however were well-manned and organised. The baggage collection as one earlier reviewer said, was a bit British Airways. The handing-out of the goody bags was dis-organised and a little chaotic. As another reviewer put it, more SMALL sizes please!

POSITIVE: Having some famous faces attend really boosts an event's image and status. A real bonus for me was witnessing a world record set by Fauja Singh. Never heard of him? yep, neither had I until then. This guy is 99 YEARS OLD! and he broke his own world record for his age category. I estimated his time at 1 hr 15 mins, a lot of people a quarter of his age would be proud of that time.

Goody bag & medal: Nice white t-shirt with the event name and year on it as a memento and the granola bar and energy drink much appreciated! very decent solid metal medal with the event name and year on it. The medal design same as last year, but the medal/ribbon colour was slightly different this year.

Suggestions: Change the route to possibly take in Green Street and the Boleyn ground, you'd get more spectators/supporters.

In short: A lovely event graced by to brilliant olympiads
In full: I had to take my time as I am running the London Marathon on Sunday. However the event was such a pleasure to take part in last year so I decided to participate this year. I love the hands on involvement of Tessa Sanderson(a great Olympic Champion. It was brilliant too to see Sharon Davis an equally brilliant Olympic athlete.

In short: Fun, well organised race in East London
In full: Nice race with very good atmosphere and decent course with good participation at all speed levels. Generally very well organised and run - a few minor issues on the day (missing km signs, slight chaos at big pick-up).

Really enjoyable Sunday morning.

In short: An excellent friendly Olympic 10k improving year by year!
In full: A much improved if a little harder 10k course for 2010. Decent PB chance here. Run to the heart of the Olympic Stadium and enjoy the carnival atmosphere within West Ham park. Well organised event, good value (if you don't book early!) with a free 5 min massage to boot. The baggage retrieval could have been better but all in all a 9 out of 10.

In short: Made you happy to be a runner!
In full: I participated in Tessa Sanderson's (free) 5k warm-up races in January and February and went into this race with high expectations. They weren't disappointed. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, good warm-up and a great DJ playing pumping music to get us revved up before the start. The course was a little narrow at points but that didn't cause any major problems. One or two steep parts to provide a bit of a challenge. Although the race was mainly in residential streets, the start and finish in beautiful West Ham Park, and the views of the Olympic Stadium made for a scenic run. OK cloth goody bag with a good quality T Shirt (though a plea to race organisers - more small sizes please!), energy drink and cereal bar, plus a finishers medal. All in all a good run - the glorious weather heled too!

In short: Friendly, well run event
In full: Super weather and a well planned out and back course from West Ham Park to the Olympic Stadium. Congested start but timing chip made this less of an issue - results up promptly. Very supportive marshals and police although some fast cars did infiltrate the course in Stratford High Street. Oh and the baggage handling was a bit British Airways. Well worth doing with a good fast finish in the park.
