In short: I thought the race had potential but as i got to 9 miles the course along the busy road got very boring and lonely and a lack of marshalls ended up in me going wrong way !! Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: Too much alongside the busy A20 for my liking and not enough hills to challenge you. In full: I would only do this again as part of prep for a road marathon as I would have liked some off-road climbs across the beautiful Kent Downs - maybe Pilgrims' Way?
The organisation was good and the marshalls friendly. The hotel was an excellent venue and it was a delight not to have to queue for a portaloo! Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: A really unusual race, excellent HQ in hotel, two distances tochoose from, A20 path was cramped and muddy with cars speeding past. Lack of organisation of the marshalls on remote country lanes meant I got lost and ran more than 3 extra miles.... In full: Fantastic facitities at the start. Remarkably, and uniquely in my experience, there was even no queue for the loo! Staggered start needed because much of the race was on a narrow path along the busy A20. Overtaking was very difficult but runner numbers were small enough that this was not a major problem. There were lots of marshalls which was good, however the remote lanes have many side turns and I frequently found myself guessing which way to go. At nine miles continuing on the main lane proved to be an error and I ran, along with the race leader, about 1.8 miles until a cycling marshall caught us and sent us back up the hill to the course. Needless to say the 24.5 miles was slightly more than I had planned for the day. Another minor grumble was the 20 mile post was only a few hundred yards short of the '21 mile' finish line. Despite my comments, if the course is signposted carefully next time and ideally if there is less A20 footpath, then this could become an excellent event. Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: The best marathon preperation race by far In full: (21 mile route review) Easy to find location, ample parking, started on time, first three odd miles are on the side of the A20 and quite tight in places, then you turn off and up Stede Hill and what a hill it is. A whole mile of pain, into some undulating lanes before a big descent and few more miles on the A20 before the next huge hill and a circuit on top of the Downs and then back onto the A20 for the race home. Super organisation, lovely marshalls at the many food/drink stops. This was the best possible prep for next month mara. Great race thanks Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: bit boring to be honest In full: the 2 long streches along the A20 were boring at best ! was great when you were up on the north downs, but were not up there for long enough, needed more mile markers and a few more water stops , cadets were great though, lack of support too :-( Date of review: March 26, 2009

In short: Next time I want to run on a an uneven footpath next to a road I won't both paying £18 for it. There's better runs in Kent then this and far more scenic ones.... Date of review: March 25, 2009

In short: A Great Event In full: Very well organised and marshalled but personally I didn't enjoy running along the A20 for most of the run. The loop around the lanes was lovely. Date of review: March 25, 2009

In short: Well-organised, friendly race In full: Can't fault it; particularly liked the rolling start, instant electronic results and the hotel hq. My only grumble was other runners (i) despite the clear instructions to overtake on the grass verge, a couple of runners (old enough to know better) barged past slower ones shouting "on your left" i.e. get out of my way (ii) the moans about the A20 section - the clue is in the title, running by a busy road should not be a surprise! and (iii) the moaning about the price of the refreshments, which were quite normal for a hotel. Making such a fuss serves only to antagonise the hotel staff who seemed very pleasant to me.
Well done to the organisers! Look forward to next year. Date of review: March 24, 2009

In short: Great Cadets which quite made the run ! In full: An unsual race due to the staggered start. The run along the A20 there and back was pretty tedious & I have scratches on my arms from the narrow path and the uncut trees. Met some great runners which really helped to take away the tedium of the run. Would only recommend for those who are doing FLM / Spring Marathon. Facilities at hotel were fantastic & great for those of us who weren't local. Cadets at water stations were just awesome, would have been good to have mile markers to help motivate us.
