In short: Wet and wild, but "mile" markers were out by - well - miles.
In full: I've done this race before in 2002 and 2008 and really enjoyed it. This year, I felt it lacked atmosphere, perhaps because of the rain before the start. Course was better than last year though - more varied with loads of water. Mile markers were way out however - my brother's Garmin made it 8.74 - with the last two "miles" measuring 1.4 and 1.5 - not what you need at that point! Lack of goody bag and crappy big cotton t-shirt also marked it down in my book - Hellrunner managed a better atmosphere, a more fun course and a great value goody bag with fitted girlie t-shirts.

In short: My favourite race of the year!
In full: Weather again beautiful and course as challenging as always. The extra rain seemed to make the clay pits easier if anything. Warmed up in the water before the race to some bemused looks (obviously first timers who knew nothing of what was to come). The only problem wih The Grim is i now have to wait another year for my next fix. Come on guys what are you gonna do for us addicts? I just need one more hit!

In short: Now too many people!
In full: Some nice changes to the course (the end in particular) and the addition of chip timing is a plus. More water than previous also.

However, this race is now a victim of it's own success. There were 700 more runners this year than last year (according to the compere), and it told. Too congested. And the organisers were trying to get people to promote the event for them to make it bigger. Cut it down!

In short: Cold, wet, muddy and fun
In full: As a roadrunner this was a real challenge and a nice change from the tarmac. My target was to finish and survive, which I thankfully did! Good atmosphere with surrounding runners and one girl even grabbed me to stop me going head first in a puddle. Scramble nets were pointless and the bottle neck at the mud was a nice rest! A good giggle but I think I'll stick to the tarmac once my trainers have dried out. The other half loved it and will definitely be back again. A great challenge and a great introduction to different types of races, please don't change it, let the hardcore mad people go and do other races if they've got bored.

In short: Grim?????????
In full: A good run mainly on forest type tracks with a few big cold wet bits and one really muddy bit that you had to queue for. The cargo net that you had to crawl through you could stand in! The Saab Salomon Turbo X at Bordon was MUCH grimmer(?) and I'm afraid this run was very overhyped.
