In short: wet rat at the back but happy and still smiling
In full: Didn't want to get out of the car for this one but very pleased i did.

Managed to get race ready (completely soaked ) so wasn't too upset that the people who were going to give us all a pre-race warm up didn't turn up and as the roads around the common started turning into streams I couldn't really work out why a lot of runners were cramming into the tents after all we were going to get wet.

A shame that the tents only blew over at the end of the race!

Very well organised and despite the hill a run that encourages you to a pb - which i might get once the results go online.

Thanks to all the marshals - especially the guy just before the last 2 k (causeway) who gave everyone so much encouragement and asked if i wanted an ambulance when i was 'recovering' against a tree after finishing.

cannot wait for next year, bright blue skies sun shining down on us as we softly tread the footpaths of Wimbledon on a Sunday morning.

In short: Loved it
In full: This is my 5th 10K and definitely my favourite so far. So what if it rained - it adds to the challenge. It is the first time that I've really been able to really push it (maybe I'm getting fitter at long last) and it was so nice to be in a group of people and not be on my own running at the back. Big thanks to the marshals for their encouragement (especially the guy at the corner of the Causeway) and the girl who I either ran behind or in front of after the hill - hearing you behind me really inspired me to continue. Hope we did better than the just under 1.07 that I estimated that we did!!! My aim was to get under 1.10 and I really wanted to do 1.06 - I think the clock said 1.06.47 - but I'm waiting with bated breath to see what the chip time says. But whatever the result I have beaten my PB (1hr 13) and that with that hill - though running downhill was great. I wasn't keen on road runs before this one, now I'm hooked. When is the next one!!!!

In short: Wet Wet Wet - Monsoon in Wimbledon
In full: Firstly - applause to the organisers and marshalls because it was Monsoon season in Wimbledon. Pleasant little run through Wimbledon although the double hill - Cottenham Road was not pleasant but well worthy of anyone looking for a 10k in their spring marathon training.

In short: Rain rocks! A pleasant little run in Wimbledon, very friendly organisers.
In full: I had a fantastic run in the rain. However, I was there with some students and was a little concerned for their safety as not all the road crossings were marshaled and there didn't seem much signage to make drivers aware that an event was going on - just arrows for the runners to follow. Some of the marshals didn't seem too keen, but it was a very cold wet day for them. Others were great though, there were some really good, enthusiastic people out there guiding us and cheering us on.

In short: even better in the rain
In full: definitely is PB potential, the first 5km is either downhill or flat as a pancake so minutes can be gained before the hill at 6km and final 2km is very fast, great race, great marshalling, complaining about putting sides in gazeebos, come on, its a race not a picnic :)

In short: Hilly, but very friendly runners, and cheerful marshalls made it a good race.
In full: As a beginner, it is always scary turning up to races like this, particularly when it is raining, and you know the 'fair weathers' probably aren't going to turn up. I needn't have worried! Well organised chip picking up, and cutting off, and we were off early in order to cut the amount of time we were standing around. Cups of water just before the hill at 5KM were terribly welcome, and the marshalls were really encouraging, and friendly as well as dedicated. Nasty bit on the common at the end due to the mud and puddles, but again warnings from the marshalls made you aware. Finished shaving 10 minutes off my time despite the wind and rain, and felt very pleased!
Banana, water, and medal at the end.
Not a complete beginner's race unless you have done hills before, as the double hill in the middle is a killer!

In short: The weather didn't spoil a good workout!
In full: second time doing this race so i was prepared for the hill at 5-6k. Quit enjoyable, well done to the marshall - agree with the comment about having sides to the tents...might have keep us a bit dry pre and post race.
Not one for a PB (due to the hill)...but an enjoyable run!
