In short: Slip Sliding Away ... In full: Miserable weather made what would have been a great late autumn run into a real mission. No-one expected the cold rain & hail storm which turned the last 5km into a mud bath. Up until then, the going had been pretty good considering the amount of rain we'd had. A great atmosphere though (everyone likes a new run) and relatively well organised. Two important things though: please don't make us walk half a mile from the car park to the start again!; and, can we get a hot coffee and bacon roll stand for next year? Good job I brought my thermos! Date of review: November 23, 2009

In short: Mud! In full: Very muddy trail run along forest tracks. It's a shame we had so much rain the night before, but otherwise a good run. Date of review: November 23, 2009

In short: UP AND DOWN THROUGH FOREST AND MUD In full: The hills were perfect. Not too long so as you got hammered but, plenty of up then down hill. Very nice scenery Date of review: November 23, 2009

In short: Well done the marshalls for keeping smiling in the weather! In full: Great fun - something quite exhilarating about running full pelt downhill in rain / mud / wind on a Sunday morning! Very enjoyable event, though as others have said, more info about distance to start would be helpful. Still, at least it was a bit of a warm up! Agree that the standing around at the end wasn't great, but sure the organisers will revise these bits for next year. Great race though. Thank you! Date of review: November 22, 2009

In short: Great fun and interesting weather! In full: My first ever 10k and the weather was interesting! Don't mind running in the rain but did wonder if it was going to wash my contact lenses out but the hail really did give it that "special" touch!
Loved the course and, had the mud been a bit less I'd have said the terrain was perfect. Lost my nerve in the mud over the last 2k or so - very pleased I had off road shoes on!
Thank you to the marshalls who managed to lift my spirits even as the weather got progressively worse.
I will be back determined to beat my shockingly slow time! Date of review: November 22, 2009

In short: great course especially for first time trailers In full: This was a great run with potential to be an annual noteworthy race. Good organisation for a first time event. Notes for future event, information that it takes time to get from carpark to the start, in bad weather conditions not suitable for buggies & push chairs. Little shelter at start/finish for spectators and finishers. Great cup & T-shirt but a goody bag with some water & may be a silver blanket to protect against elements on the walk back. The course was great, I would recommend this to any first time trail runner & with dry conditions this certainly would be a PB course. Overall I really enjoyed myself. A big thankyou to all the Marshals that stood out guiding and encouraging the runners despite the severe downpours, must be a hardy bunch. I ll be coming back next year if held. Well done to the organisers. Date of review: November 22, 2009

In short: great XC experience In full: superb race, from the timing chip hand-out to the information about the delayed a=start, everything was handled great.
As others have said before me the course contained mud, some nice little uphill bits, more mud, fast downhill stretches, even more mud, tree roots, loads more mud and even some sand.
Along with the thunder and hail I was fully expecting to see the 3 Horsemen of the Apocalypse at any moment......well done to all entrants and a huge well done to the marshalls and helpers.....
Will be back again.... Date of review: November 22, 2009

In short: Great new event. In full: The weather made for quite a special race. As others have said, it would have been good to know how far the start was from the car park. Very well organised, a friend did this as his first 10K and it was a baptism by fire (or at least water/rain/hail/mud/etc) The conditions certainly made this a more interesting race more up there with Hell Runner type etc. Date of review: November 22, 2009
