In short: Lovely race do it every year great organisation friendly marshals and scenic route In full: Well done for another great race I'll be back once again can't miss this one :-) Date of review: September 29, 2014
In short: Very well organised, excellent marshaling and generous refreshment stalls. Good variety of surfaces to run on and though hilly, hills small and manageable, my Garmin stated total ascent was 569m Date of review: September 27, 2014
In short: Lovely Surrey marathon run In full: Great route , narrow in parts but if you love the trail runs there can be few finer than this undulating and twisting route in and around Farnham , the views are amazing and the marshals and support people from the Rotary Club made me feel so glad to be in England and a beautiful September morning /afternoon !! In short: Brilliantly organised and marshalled, beautiful, hilly and slow In full: A wonderful run on the western end of the North Downs.
There are some good hills (for the South), lots of stiles, and much of the course is sandy. You will not run a fast race, and people who start fast have a tough last few miles. Outstanding marshals - lots of them, friendly, lots of drink stations with snacks. Thoroughly recommended if you want a stretching off road half or full marathon and are not looking for a PB. In short: The [race/scenery/atmosphere/organisation] was stunning In full: Definitely the best half marathon I've run, despite being a good 8 minutes outside my PB. The course is beautiful and, as most reviewers seem to agree, the marshalling and general organisation was faultless. It seemed to be such a labour of love for everyone involved. Kudos also to the Rotary Club for the selection of cakes at the end, they were very very welcome. Will definitely run again next year, with a likely upgrade to the full marathon. In short: Uplifting, challenging, beautiful - you can feel the love! In full: Awesome organisation, magnificent marshalling, frequent food & water. A must do trail race. THANK YOU Farnham! Date of review: September 23, 2014
In full: Just amazing...blooming hard but just 7 days since I ran Purbeck. I got my place on a transfer a mere two days before and am so glad I went for it. So many great things about this event but what stood out was the sheer amount of water/food stations !! And so many marshals !!! Just brilliant - so kind and helpful. It was my 62nd marathon and to date, I have never seen so many marshals on this kind of trail, out in the sticks, run. I thanked them all as I went around. I did find it tough but I have forgotten all that now and I WILL be back next year. If I may allow myself to say one slight issue....please PLEASE have more size small T shirts. I had to have a medium (I am a lady) and it is HUGE !! Maybe when people enter they can request a size and have that put on their number. A selection of random sizes maybe set aside for EOD's....just as long as those who entered earlier get a shirt that fits. I thank you. :-) Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Very well organised event but beware those hills! In full: The Rotary Club provide so many marshals here, it's hard not to feel loved. Some really lovely scenery too, from the River Wey Navigation (canal) to the North Downs Way.
All very nice, and a cool t-shirt too.
The hills and sand were hard-going, but if you like hills you love this event :-) Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: Thoroughly enjoyable In full: Superby marshalls - so many of them and so friendly and encouraging. Stunning scenery made even better by the perfect conditions. Lump in the throat enducing cheers from the crowd in the final half mile. Hard to top. Thanks for a great race. Date of review: September 22, 2014
In short: One of the harder half marathons but one of the best - a great event In full: 3rd year of doing this fabulous event and once again the weather was glorious ive yet to do this in pouring rain but it wouldnt matter its still a great x country race. Personally it wasnt a good race for me 10 mins slower than last year but still an enjoyable run through every terrain going - puttenham hill climb on sand is quite ticklish but generally not too hilly ok for a first time half as i found out 2 years previous. Cheery marshalling everywhere even the kids do a grand job lots of encouragement and smiles and lots of water stations some with food and gels too brilliant if you need it. Once again well organised everything you require before and after i will definately return for a 4th year the only tiny gripe is the medal it used to be terribly unique a real gem - this year a bit plain. The t shirt does make up for this. Nonetheless well done to everyone involved a great must do race. Date of review: September 22, 2014
