In short: It was for charity! In full: Thought that the course was better this year with the finish near the stadium adding more atmosphere. Yes it was a little congested at the start but it evened out. Date of review: September 7, 2009
In short: They need to have the start split into expected times to avoid congestion or reverse the route. In full: This would be great if there weren't so many fun runners clogging up the first 2k. Some friends were running 4 abreast, very annoying.
If they had areas at the start it could be a real improvement i.e. : sub 1hr, sub 55, sub 50, sub 45, sub 40 etc. Date of review: September 7, 2009
In short: My first race so I have nothing to compare it to but I really enjoyed it. In full: As others have said, more loos needed at the start.
That said, it was nice and flat, great atmosphere and I would recommend it to anyone as a first event if finishing is your main objective. The congestion might be a problem if your objective is a fast time. Date of review: September 7, 2009
In short: Well done the Kidney Wales team working for a worthy cause. In full: Always enjoy this race. Deserves more support from the City to iron out some of the problems identified. Date of review: September 7, 2009
In short: As a native of Cardiff it pains me to say this but its an overpriced, congested event In full: I ran as one of the pacers as there is no way on principle I will pay entry fees this high for a 10K and was planning to boycott it again. The first 2K were way too congested to be enjoyable. Here's an idea, if you want to charge through the nose for a 10K in Cardiff then close the roads around Roath Park and the Lake and run it there, now that's proper scenery. And punters - if you want proper racing, turn up at the Parkrun every Saturday morning for free. Date of review: September 6, 2009
In short: I am wholly behind Katherine Jenkins on this one ;-) In full: :-)
Your special chance to run behind Katherine Jenkins, or Angela Jay from Real Radio if you must. Form an orderly line ;-)
Joking aside, it is a superb race, flat, interesting and we even got Rhodri Morgan on the hooter this year (apparently the First Minister has a 3:12 mara PB in his day).
Route was good but with congestion at the start it might be an idea to start at the stadium and finish in the park next year. More space for everyone to thin out.
There was also a lack of numbers and chips for 'on the day' entries. If I were them I would send chips to people pre-registering and tell everyone entering on the day that they can buy a number and run but won't get a time. That way they can sell loads of spaces right up to the start.
In short: Good course, congested at start, more loos needed In full: Pretty much as others have already said. The course was very good, the organisation was mostly fine. PBs were a real possibility. But - congested for the first 2 or so kms, and definitely too few loos! Date of review: September 6, 2009
In short: Too many runners for narrow paths of Bute Park In full: Needs to start outside Bute Park to allow for the narrowness of the paths in the park. A lot of jostling at the start and for a kilometer or so. Date of review: September 6, 2009
