In short: Not for the faint-hearted (although faint-hearted+dim is probably ok)
In full: Any complaints about this one are entirely directed at myself - perhaps a race too far after the New Forest mara. I run around these hills a lot so I should have known what to expect. Doh.

I thought this a well-organised, great value race in beautiful surroundings. It is, however, bl**dy hard. Felt worse after this one than after either of my maras.

Back next year for round 2!

In short: Great race for those who love off road longer runs that do not require navigation skills.

In short: Very enjoyable, scenic run in the South Downs.
In full: Great variety of scenery and I found some of the downhills almost as hard as the uphills. Found the final drag along the clifftop difficult and couldn't wait to se the zig-zag.

In short: A tough old race but don't let that put you off one of the friendliest off-roaders on the calendar
In full: My third time of doing this and getting ever slower - scenic but testing course - well organised and very friendly event - good test of duration and endurance.

In short: Great scenery, great marshalls, great race.
In full: As a first timer to the race it was hard but enjoyable. It felt very hot and I'm glad i carried my own drink aswell as the stations because the heat zapped me. It shouldn't be that hot in the middle of October! The marshalls were very friendly, special thanks for those in the cow fields and guy on his mountain bike.... Enjoyable day!

In short: Great tough race...already thinking about next years, it's that good.
In full: Hard, hilly and a real treat. It just about has the lot: great course, real physical challenge, very friendly low key feel and outside of a fell race, just about the best value for money going.

If you like this sort of thing but haven't done it yet, then do it. If you're not sure, then give it a go, you'll end up as a convert.

Many thanks to everyone who helped put this on and to all those who took part; see you again next year - HLS

In short: Tough race, highly recommended
In full: First time to do this one and I loved it. The scenery was amazing, easily made up for the crazy hills. Friendly marshals and friendly competitors.

In short: A beautiful course and the weather made it even better. The hills, as expected, were tough but made the course more interesting. Nice medal and wonderful marshals. All in all, a fab race.

In short: Blimey, that was hard
In full: First time for me, boy was it hard. Big W in particular was a challenge - very steep (not runnable on the up-slopes, well not for me anyway) and a bit slippery on the way down as well.

Did the run to try to get some hard miles in before Beachy Head in a couple of weeks, I suspect it will have been perfect for that, but it also made me realise I haven't really got enough miles under my belt as the last couple of miles were desperate.

Still, great way to spend a Sunday morning. Good organisation (although agree one more water station would have helped - would have died without the bottle I carried) and supportive marshalling, nice medal and memento. Pride of place, though, has to go the South Downs - on a clear (eventually !) sunny day the scenery was magnificent, but even in the mist there was an eerie beauty about the course.

Not a run for the faint-hearted, and would only recommend doing this if you've got a lot of miles in your legs. This course will find any weaknesses........

Thanks to everyone involved.
