In short: Fantastic fast & fairly flat pb potential course in city centre In full: Not the most scenic courses! but its fast and the potential for a pb make this one race not to miss. The downsides to this: long queues for the toilets and even longer one for the baggage store - we didnt use this in the end - deciding that a quick dash to the car to leave belongings would be quicker. The start area was flagged in time order and the runners numbers were colour coded too however people could just go where they wanted and the usual thing happened in that people who know they are not going to run/havent trained for that speed are at the very front at the startline! Otherwise great organisation and also fantastic to be able to block traffic on this extremely busy road in & out of the city centre. Date of review: November 22, 2010
In short: The course won't win scenery awards, but it's a fun, well organised race with a fast, flat PB-friendly course. In full: Not an inspiring course, but fast, flat and great for a PB. Some nice touches make this ideal for new runners or occasional racers. A textbook example of great race organisation. Colour-coded bibs this year, but no attempt to enforce this - however, this didn't seem to have resulted in any congestion. In all, a great race if you don't mind the scenery or the out-and-back nature of the course. Date of review: November 22, 2010
In short: Typical corporate run In full: Boring run but great for a PB. Only did this because my missus likes flat city centre runs! At least the money goes to a good cause. Date of review: November 21, 2010
In short: Very flat fast 10k with great PB potential In full: Race is as billed flat and fast. Shite scenery apart from 20-30sec of Abbey view. Text message 30min after finishing ith gun and chip time an excellent touch. Date of review: November 21, 2010
In short: Perfect for a PB. In full: As a race it ticks loads of boxes; PB course, great atmosphere, chip timing, text results and plenty of energy drinks. For it size, it's also very well organised. (apart from the baggage area) This is the third time I've run this race and I have promised myself never again! I really can't bear out and back races generally. I just find them very difficult psychologically and it's such a dull out and back course as well. I've finally realised I've been ruined by scenic races. As a result, despite the course being a flyer and getting a PB, I really didn't enjoy it at all..but that is all totally subjective, because, objectively speaking, as a 10k PB race, it takes some beating. In short: A grand day out! In full: Ideal conditions and well organised. New-ish to running and just wondering what the etiquette is on spitting - it gets on my nerves when someone in front spits with seemingly no consideration for those close behind. Hate to appear all Mary Whitehouse-ish and if it's considered ok then soz to bring it up (so to speak!). Date of review: November 21, 2010
In short: Flat and fast course In full: Flat course and I took a couple of minutes off my best time, which I did in September.
More organisation at the start is probably needed given the number of runners. The baggage and toilet queues looked very long, though fortunately I didn't need to use either. Date of review: November 21, 2010
