In short: Beautiful scenery, lovely sunshine & speedy final mile In full: I feel like a child at a party for saying "what no goodie bag?" but for the entry fee it would have been nice to get more than a medal. Anyway, that aside, this was my 1st 1/2 and I really enjoyed it. Hills were killers, but the downhills were fun - beautiful scenery and sunshine too. Another grumble would be lack of loos at start, but all in all I had a great day. Date of review: March 5, 2006
In short: Good, but challenging course - let down by the organisation In full: A few gripes: the lack of signs to parking / race start, limited toilets, lack of anywhere to leave kit, no count-down to race start, water not poured out at drinks stations. Also for £13, to just get a cheap looking medal is a bit steep! However, despite the course being challenging it was across beautiful land and I enjoyed it! Date of review: March 5, 2006
In short: Nice Race In full: Very scenic, I will agree with the other comments about the water stations, not enough people to man them so had to wait for water, and no banana etc at the end was a bit poor, nice 'trying' course tho. Date of review: March 5, 2006
In short: A hard race - big hills - but scenic and worth doing In full: The organisation wasn't great - not enough directions to help you find the start. Parking was good though. Not enough water on the course and nothing to eat at the end. I enjoyed it though, even though the hills, and particularly the first at mile 3, made it really hard. Date of review: March 5, 2006
In short: Fine race - quite enjoyable In full: Nice friendly race, couple of niggles - with problems parking, long q's for the loos meant missed the start, but this meant able to overtake a fair number of people round the course and this helped to motivate along the way, also got stopped to allow traffic to cross was a little frustrating. Some nice hills to make this a more challenging course, also measured the course slightly long 13.35. But this was a nice race Date of review: March 5, 2006
In short: Not a race I would expect to get a PB, but somehow..... In full: Really enjoyed it, challenging without being OTT & downhill bit at the end was a relief. Also managed a PB which was a bit of a bonus Date of review: March 5, 2006
In short: A wonderful sunny day made a PB even better! In full: Organisation was shocking with a capital Sh! Toilet queues, lack of water stations, marshalling dodgy.. I think it showed that it was a Rotary club and not a running club organising it. Only drinks at the end, no banana or cereal bar for £11 is a bit steep.
Having said that I got a very good PB and really enojyed the actual run. it was just everythgin else that was not so good..
