In short: Was disappointed but........ In full: have since contacted the race organiser who will gladly swap the same t-shirt as I got last year for one of the new designs. :) Date of review: June 6, 2011
In short: Expensive race for a cheap T shirt In full: Well organised, no major problems although water etc a bit of a free for all at the end. I finished top 100 so no hassle for me. The water and T shirt areas need moving further away. We do need warning about the long walk from the overspill car park though, for late comers could be a problem. I do think the prize list needs increasing, they stopped at M60+ and F50+, there are a lot of older good runners out there who should be catered for. 36 runners from my club Wolds Vets, any club beat that! In short: Country lanes with gentle climbs and descents mean that you'll get a respectable time in this race. Not much to see though, which is a shame when the town itself is lovely... In full: Pros: An enjoyable race with some nice facilities in Jubilee Park; chip timing; some handily placed water stations for those who want them; supportive race-marshalling; free overflow parking; quick results service.
Cons: Very congested start and tight finishing area; poorly placed chip collection; ridiculous marshalling of queues for parking this year which meant a massive traffic jam through the centre of the town... 1 person stopping the car to tell you that the next person had something to tell you (which was that overflow parking was being used) when all that was required was a set of traffic cones and some arm-waving which would have resulted in a free flow of traffic.
On the whole though, and enjoyable day and I'd run again. Date of review: June 5, 2011
In short: flat rural 10k In full: I really like this event and keep coming back each year. The field is big enough to provide some atmosphere but not large enough to congest the course. The route was well marshalled with frequent water stations and was mainly traffic free. The only minor gripe is that the 9km marker was set out about 1150m meters from the finish, but the course measured 10k on the Garmin so cant really complain! Date of review: June 5, 2011
In short: Well organised with friendly atmosphere In full: The scenery along the course wasn't pretty and wasn't dull but was in between - pretty dull. A pity because Woodhall Spa is a very attractive little town. A run through the woods might have been nice: no doubt that would have been harder to organise with nearly 1000 competitors. In short: Good race In full: Car parking was a fair muddle, but otherwise this was yet another well-organised race. The finsih was a mess though, maybe the water and t-shirts could be at the end of the funnel rather than hidden among heaving crowds? Date of review: June 5, 2011
In short: A nice flat 10K In full: I'm not really a 10K runner but I enjoyed this one.A nice flat course perfect for a p.b. I had no problem entering on the day. It was a bit chaotic a the end though. Would of liked a Techinical t-shirt for the money. Also had the usual glory hunters at the start stood in the wrong place holding everyone else up. I'll be back again next year. Date of review: June 5, 2011
In short: Great summer run through country lanes for all runner levels. Missed having crowd support until end. Finish area bit of a shambles. In full: Didn't run well today, but the course would support a PB, especially on a calmer day. Course well organised, if lacking support, which would have been especially helpful when digging in on long country lanes. Lots of cheering at end, thanks. Finish area dreadful: very tight entry to finish line; an unbelievably stupidly placed tannoy van diagonally across it, limiting smooth passage of finishers, and a shambles collecting T-shirt and water. Could the race start 100m further back to enable finish on main road? Perhaps start and finish same place? Date of review: June 5, 2011
