In short: Fast friendly and fabulous! In full: My second marathon after Windermere hence the 100% for PB! The hill at Parliament Street wasn't nearly as bad as I'd been led to believe. The frequency of water stations was perfect and there were plenty of gels and sports drinks on offer too.
The support was fantastic. The charity teams, especially the Alzheimers cheerers were really funny and made me smile as they all cheered my name as if I was one of their own family! It wasn't just "come on, you're doing really great" but more personal, funny words of encouragement. This makes a massive difference when you're struggling.
The people of Liverpool should be proud, as should the organisers. I really can't fault this race. There was no goody bag but an energy bar, fantastic tec-tshirt, fruit, drinks and an awesome medal made up for that. I absolutely recommend this race to anyone! Date of review: October 16, 2012

In short: Special and emotional race In full: This marathon challenges your mental strength during 13-19miles as you climb the hills in tunnel and upper parliament street. Great feeling when you conquer the 26.2 miles. A must for anyone wanting a sense of achievement. Date of review: October 16, 2012

In short: First time Marathon In full: With this being my first time marathon I have no real frame of reference but I have to say I thought the organisation was magnificent! Start was bang on time, hundreds of toilets, baggage was quick and easy (although bags being handed out by the trucks would help those that missed them!).
As others have said the support was great, coming out of the tunnel after being pulled up the hill by the sound of the drums reverberating down the tunnel was unreal!
Big thank you to all the volunteers and the support! Just about got me sprinting the last km despite starting to cramp! Date of review: October 16, 2012

In short: Scenic, interesting and friendly - no queues at loos or kit drop! In full: Thoroughly enjoyed it ... except for possibly the uphill tunnel part and Parliament Hill :) bits! It was so well organised - no queues at the kit bag vans, practically no queues for the loos beforehand and plenty of volunteers handing out the water and gels! The start was great - only took me 1.5 minutes to get over the line and the finish funnel was kept moving and plenty of places to sit at the end!
I'm trying to think of any bad points as it really was fab - including the support on this thread! The only thing that would have been better could have been moving the start slightly so people didn't have to wade across the field to get to the portaloos - there were plenty of wet feet at the start.
Loved the route and runnig along the river and through the city. Couldn't belive how beautiful Liverpool was and the people were fab!! Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend there.
Also excellent support on the forum thread. Date of review: October 16, 2012

In short: fast! In full: As a slower runner and first time marathoner it was a bit lonely after 5 hours - numbers dropped at the back as did support in some areas, HOWEVER this is to be expected with a relatively new race, and is no reflection on the organisation or the volunteers! The hill at 18 miles seemed to come as as a shock to a lot of people, only the truly hardy were running up it, but what's a challenge if it isn't challenging?! Overall I enjoyed, organisation was great, and hopefully slower runners will be encouraged to sign up for there is surely power in numbers! Date of review: October 16, 2012
