In short: Excellent Again - and a PB :) In full: 2nd rear I've ran this race and I ran it over 5 minutes quicker this time for a new PB, after about 10 half marathons,I knew about the hill at 12.5 this time! A congested start and why do some people go in the pens at the front when clearly they aren't going to be sub 1.30-1.40! Fantastically organised, great volunteers, even the free porridge from the little stall on the right as you exited the fenced off area at the finish was a great idea. The timing tracking was a great idea. Date of review: May 13, 2013

In short: Top organisation, Very rural route, then a grandstand finish In full: Frist time doing the chester half marathon, the organisation can not be faulted, you can tell runners have arranged this event as they give you a very testing course, water bottles with a sports cap, gel stations and 4 timeing mats in the race. My family really enjoyed watching the tracking facility on how i was going. Other events should embrace this aspect. The first and last mile of this race are excellent, the start area is where it should be in the racecouse and an excellent grandstand finish in the centre, although the first mile was very congested. The rest of the 11 mile inbetween was very rural with some support from the local residents, although it will make you feel as though you are on your normal sunday training run for most parts. Excellent medal and t-shirt and goody bag, This race cannot be faulted, route wise you can only work with whats in the area. The only improvments that could be made here are the route if possible and the finish as the last 1/2 mile has a beast of a hil which sorts the men from the boys. Date of review: May 13, 2013
In short: Excellent Event; First Class Organisation; Brilliant T Shirt and Top Class Finish in the busy City Centre In full: I was fortunate enough to be responsible for pacing at around the 2h 15m pace. As a result, I had a number of 1st time half marathon runners in tow and had lots of interesting conversations as we meandered around the course with totally closed roads.
As usual, the organisation of the Chester team was like clockwork. All drink stations were well stocked and fully manned. The finish - after you climber the last hill was absolutely brilliant and the T shirt and goody bag were 'as good as any' you would get for any UK event.
Roll on October 6th for another display of 'how events should be run'.
