In short: Tough race but what an amazing one ! Have never seen so many Marshalls out on a course all with a smile, water & lots of cheer. One of the best organised races that I have ever had the pleasure of running. Date of review: June 22, 2014
In short: The best race you'll do this year.... In full: Quite simply the best route, best marshal's and best cakes. Fantastic value, great medal, T-shirt, and goody bag. Yes its hard and it was unbelievably hot but I'll be back in 2015.......maybe Date of review: June 22, 2014
In short: stunning scenery, perfect organisation In full: This was my second NDR and it didn't disappoint. The course is well-signed, varied, with the friendliest of marshalls and incredible views from rolling meadows to poppy -filled meadows. There was even a lark singing! The race is so well organised and filled with generous touches, sponges and plenty of water all the way round, a fantastic goody bags and all-round inspirational atmosphere. And free tea and home-made cakes! Thanks so much to the organisers. This race is worth every step and every penny. If you are considering entering next year, do it! You won't regret it... In short: Hills, heat and happiness In full: Brilliant but brutal introduction to trail running for me. Fab medal, T-shirt, scenery and excellent Marshalls. Loved it, thought I was prepared but instead was grateful for the occasional bottleneck in order to catch my breath! Date of review: June 22, 2014
In short: My 2nd year confirmed this to me as one of the best races on the calendar! In full: This is a feel-good race par-excellence! Okay, it's one tough old course, particularly when the sun is shining like 2014. But all your effort is rewarded (amazing views, wonderful camaraderie, brilliant post-race satisfaction). And the organisers seem to nail everything spot on. It's friendly, well ran, brilliantly marshalled, reasonably priced. I really can't think of anything that would add to how good an event this is. If you ever get the chance, run it! Train up as much as you like (the more you train the more you can attack those hills) but once you do it, you will almost certainly want to do it again. In short: Fabulous In full: Nothing could be bettered! Course, Marshalls, organisation, everything was superb. I even asked if they could keep a larger shirt aside for me at the finish as my size usually runs out and a lovely lady saw my number and had remembered to put one aside. Thank you so much to the club, scouts and other volunteers for making our day so special Date of review: June 22, 2014
In short: Hot, hilly, hard, long! But what a great race. In full: This is the first year I've had the balls to enter, and I can see why it's so highly rated. The course marking was brilliant, no mean feat when you've got 18+ miles off road, marshals, water station workers and friendly locals sitting outside the pubs all encouraging and friendly, and it is a challenging and beautiful course. My only (minor) criticism would be the lack of water at the end - only a 330ml bottle. A water station and some sponges would've worked wonders at the finish line, given the weather. In short: Hope it continues for another 30 years at least! In full: “One of the most iconic races in the UK and Europe” certainly lived up to its reputation with Istead and Ifield Harriers really pushing the boat out for the 30th running of the event.
There was even celebration beer at the half way pit-stop!
Brilliant Marshalling and support all the way – the whole local community seems to get behind this event.
A very tough course but through some of the most scenic countryside in the south – worth taking your time to savour for those not too hooked on times.
Hope it continues for another 30 years at least! Date of review: July 22, 2013
