In short: Well organised, challangeing run In full: Clowne Road Runners do a super job of organising this (and their other events). There's good parking, its very well marshaled, there's the offer of jelly beans at around 10 miles, and when you finish there's biscuits, flapjack and power drinks.
The course itself is a challenge, the wind hinders at times and helps at others. From my point of view hitting the wind at around 11 miles hurt!! Scenery was great.
I did the run in 1994, so its been awhile for me. I'll put it in the calendar for next year though.
Very well done to everyone involved. Date of review: November 26, 2012
In short: best half sround In full: my 2nd clowne half marathon, and for me it still remains the best on the half marathon circuit. well organised, well marshalled, great water stations, good parking, good community centre at the start providing all you could want for pre and post race hospitality. free lucozade and flapjacks outside, very reasonably priced (and massively portioned) cakes and bacon sandwiches inside. i am not being sarcastic when i think that the price for entry to this race should go up - its one of the cheapest around at the moment, and clowne road runners deserve the extra couple of quid per person for the super efforts they put in to making the simple things work so well - and no, i'm not their treasurer! Even the mementos are great - shirt last year, good quality water bottle this!!! Date of review: November 25, 2012
In short: Great value, well-organised half marathon In full: Congrats and thanks to everyone at Clowne Road Runners for putting on a really well-organised event. From parking up to crossing the finish line, everything was how it should be in a road race. Date of review: November 25, 2012
In short: Starts out easy..... In full: Tough mix of slopes and proper hills. The first 3 miles are gently uphill and an easy way to warm up, but no matter what the wind direction the course loop means at some point you must run at least 2 miles into headwind. A great race that takes more out of you than you'd think. Date of review: November 29, 2011
In short: A very tough course but lovely scenery and fantastic organisation. In full: This is definately the hardest, hilliest half I have done, made worse by the wind. I was thrilled with 2nd female but a little disappointed not to get a prize. That said I will be back next year, aiming for 1 better! Date of review: November 28, 2011
