In short: Point to point marathon which is the perfect incentive to get to the finish!
In full: Lots of positives. Improved facilities at Matlock RC which included refreshments, changing and hot showers for afterwards.

Efficient coach transportation to Thorpe and delivery of bagage back to race HQ.

Well marked course, on a mainly firm running surface along the Tissington trail. Very scenic and some gret views. Course profile is a very gradual climb (hardly noticeable) from the start to around 17miles, but as usual the two major descents at 23 miles and 25miles were torture with tired legs.

The smallish field of 200 runners meant that you had to run the bulk of the race in small groups or on your own. The cold, windy and rainy conditions added to the challenge, but something about the uncomplicated and unpretentious aspect of this event appeals to me and many others.

The one little thing that I would change is to swap the mug for a medal. Having now done the last five WPMs, I'm now receiving the same coloured mug as a few years back. Otherwise, I can't fault a thing about this gem of an event.

Thanks to all involved in the organisation.

In short: Marathon - Psychological Torment!
In full: The first 22 miles are all uphill except for a slight downhill section at 21 miles. 4200 ft ascent (nearly 1 mile) according to Garmin and not what the profile suggested. This was still a brilliant event though, well organised, great scenery and good support at accessible points. Well done Matlock.

In short: Yet again.....fantastic race with great organisation
In full: As a relatively new runner I did the swift half last year and thoroughly enjoyed the race. At the finish line I decided that if I hadn't yet done a marathon then the white peak would be my first! I was not dissapointed....Fantastic scenery, proper British weather and Bacon sandwiches to finish...what more does a marathon runner need (I can call my self one of those now!). To top off the perfect day I finished sub 3.30 (3.27) which was my aim and my friend won the whole thing!!!

Thanks again Matlock AC...I'll be back!

In short: I have a new favourite race!
In full: Brilliant, absolutely loved it even though my legs were heavy from FLM 20 days ago. Well oranised and HOT showers! Brilliant. Oh, and bacon butties after. What more could you want??

In short: Good luck trying to find a more scenic half!
In full: Gorgeous scenery - a verdant paradise. Race no. distribution was a little slow, and I started to wonder if I'd make the bus, but that's a minor gripe. I love this race to bits, and have my entry in by January each year. A terrific antidote to all those traffic 'infested' city halves.
