In short: I'll do it again but only because I'm local and want to get a PB! In full: I actually enjoyed the race but am really annoyed by the mistakes made by the organisation. The goody bag was a waste of time and I was also given a 2:30+ start zone when I gave a finish time of 1:45 - 2hrs. A friend of mine was given a yellow start zone even though he stated he was going to take 2:30+...What a joke. Still, only 8-10 weeks to wait for the shirt...Apologies to all those who travelled from afar for a can of soup! Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Nice race shame about the organisation! In full: Terrible organisation, I got the wrong colour bib and somebody elses championchip, didn't get a goody bag, also spent 6 miles looking for a portaloo and no marshall could tell me where there was one! Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: poorly organised In full: Badly organised start with narrow course causing congestion. Why have the cobbles at the end - this was a nightmare to run on ! Goody bag was a tin of soup -how stupid is that. Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Hmmmmm! In full: Pretty much the same gripes as last year I'm afraid. Start was awful, the course change actually made things slightly tougher, goody bag, not really a goody bag at all. But to add to last's years tale of woe it took nearly an hour for the P&R bus to arrive! Why wasn't there more frequent busses laid on at the end of the race? It's a local race for me as well but I'm not sure I'd bother again, sooner do the two laps of Bath I think. Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: First time at this distance and thoroughly enjoyed it In full: It seems alot have poeple have given this a bad press and maybe they are correct, but this was my first half and i really enjoyed the day. Who wants a goody bag anyway? I was happy just with the medal and the sheet to keep me warm after. The t-shirt debacle is exactly that but it will come eventually come.
I hope to be back next year and beat the time I set this Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Needs to get runners involved In full: I have run Bristol 7 times and this was the worst organised races. The shambles at the start was embarrassing. I was annoyed to receive a coloured number that meant I was supposed to start in the 2h30+ zone when I run mid 1h20s. Personally I feel the course was tougher than in previous years and it was not pleasant to have to run up and down the cumberland basin flyover at 9 miles. Traffic congestion should not be an issue - if you are going to organise a half marathon then I am afraid that that really comes with the territory. I will run again as it is on my door step but might just run in costume from now on... Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: The organisation seems to be getting progressively worse. In full: The organisation for the event seems to be getting worse. The starting blocks were a complete mess. The Blue zone was marked for runners with a predicted 1hr to 1.45. The goody bag with a solitary tin of soup was a complete waste of resources. Thumping techno music and the revolting smell of greasy burger vans in the runners village was most unwelcome. Bristol was my first and favourite event. Sadly this is no longer the case.

In short: Poor organisation let down what should have been a great race In full: Good stuff: the "big event" atmosphere built up by the fantastic support from the crowds in the streets; flat, fast course; nice medal and T shirt.
Bad stuff: the men will not get their T shirt for 8-10 weeks; colour coding the start times should not have been difficult, was introduced, abandoned and left the start in a shambles; the cobbles were horrible; I missed the "goodie" bag at the end but did not bother going back for one when I discovered that it contained a tin of soup and a leaflet.
A good race with some poor organisation. Too many people for the width of the course in most places - it was less about running and more about fighting for space on the road. Date of review: September 10, 2007
