In short: Shame the organisers can't control the weather In full: Very windy this year, as already mentioned, making this a tough event for me. I would have enjoyed it much more without the 400 meters off-road in the last mile, was rather unpleasant with great potential to injury yourself. Apart from that worth scribbling in the diary for next year. Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Worth the drive In full: I traveled from Derby and was worth the drive, I found the people there very friendly and the marshalls and helpers at the water stations very cheerfull and supportive. Gel rappers and rubbish, I did Worcester last week and they asked at the start of the race if you could drop your litter by any race sign and most did.
Maybe a idea for other races to try this, it would make cleaning a lot easier I think. Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Lovely course and superbly organized. In full: Great race from the outset. The hills aren't that bad and plenty of downhill and flat to compensate. Lovely people supporting and motivating on much of the course. Nice goody bag, it's the first time I've been given a beer at the end of a race! But...shame on those runners who just discarded their empty gel packs instead of carrying them to the next bin! This is such a beautiful course and it's our responsibility to leave it as we found it. In short: Excellent organised and supported race In full: Well organised race, with good support on course from locals and marshalls. There are a few small hills and the wind was strong. Not even the organisers could control the wind but they'd probably try if you asked them! Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Superb event In full: Last year I supported a friend who ran this race and vowed to run it myself, as I was so impressed with the organisation and atmosphere of this event. I wasn't disappointed. Superbly organised, very friendly, good route with definite potential. I achieved a season's best and the closest I've been to my marathon pb in 4 years! Will definitely return to this one! Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Excellent organaisation and wonderfully scenic In full: This was my 2nd time, last year I pb'd I've run this, both times as a follow up to a major city marathon, this year it was my 3rd in 7 weeks having done Rome in March and London in April. Hills are a minor inconvenience, not so big as the rumours suggest they are and the wind was unrelenting but this is a very special marathon superbly organised by people who love their event. Big thank you to the cadets, marshalls, water station folk and baggage girls, and the womna who kept holding up the motivational signs which made me smile - everyone involved was fantastic. Thank you, I will definately be back for the 21st Date of review: May 12, 2014
