In short: Another great year - fantastic race, just too many people! In full: I love this race as it is a special event. My only downside is that there are so many people it leads to huge crowds, and long walks / big queues for parking at the end. Its a double edged sword, as its the crowds that make it special. I will always go back though... Date of review: October 8, 2008

Organisation was excellent particularly considering the amount of runners! Would recommend to anyone! Date of review: October 8, 2008

In short: GREAT RACE WOULD DO IT AGAIN! In full: I really enjoyed my first half marathon even carring a foot problem. The red arrows flying over just as i had crossed the tyne bridge was fantastic. The supporters were second to none. I would say though getting held up with slower runners not being able to get passed spoiled it slightly.Buses at end a farse, make it so you pay the bus fares before the race, you get a sticker to show you have paid (like Edinbrough marathon)This is if you need a bus, saves a lot of time and queuing as you walk straight on Date of review: October 7, 2008

In short: Great atmosphere, fantastic crowds. A Great event! In full: Worth doing this one at least once, more if your closer to it than a 6 hour drive! Well worth the experience though. Great entertainment along the route as well. Only hiccup was the priority exit coach we were on wasn't allowed to leave?? Date of review: October 7, 2008

In short: My first race and first half marathon so nothing to compare to.. In full: We were late arriving so had to start right at the back, so spent the whole race dodging people. My goal was to finish which i did. May do it next year. Date of review: October 7, 2008

In short: I can see what the appeal is but not for me In full: first time for the gnr and afraid it will be my last. As an event to raise money for charity it was fantastic and was a huge success but for me as a really keen, competitive runner (ok not that fast but really keen) the actual running part seemed to be secondary to the fundraising. I know I shouldn't critiscise it for that but I left feeling disappointed. Roll on peterborough next weekend. Full credit to the geordie support though. Date of review: October 7, 2008

In short: Another 'Great Run' day In full: The sun shone brightly, atmosphere was very special as usual. My 5th GNR in a row with my friend dressed as 'Dorothy and the Tin Man'. Support was fantastic from supporters and other runners. Only gripes were : medals which are getting smaller every year, t shirts not going with the times....please give us better quality tshirts that we can run in after the event... and getting out of South Shields afta, took 2 and half hours just to get to Newcastle (i ran it quicker !!). But overall a fantastic event, ill be back next year. Date of review: October 7, 2008
