In short: rubbish goody bag, but interesting course with some hills In full: didn't agree with the fancy dress winner - a cape and a mask shouldn't be enough to win the prize in my view.
there were two men in mime costumes who were worth a shout at the prize Date of review: November 2, 2010

In short: A very Well organised fun race to run. In full: A well organised race with excellent Marshalling and plenty of support all around the course. Undulating course but hills fairly short flattening off or with a downhill to offer relief, PB potential. A really nice feel to the race and totally enjoyable to run in,in what turned out to be perfect running conditions once the rain eased off.Nice scenary in places especially the run through Christs Hospital and plenty of halloween fancy dress to raise a smile or two.Tractors available to help stranded cars in the muddy car park and traffic a little congested getting into the village so glad we left early enough before road closures. Agree Shuttle buses would be ideal. Will definitely consider running again next year. Date of review: November 1, 2010

In short: Great race for a first half marathon In full: Really enjoyable race. As a newbie I'd say BG is an ideal first half marathon as long as you've put in a bit of good training before. That helps with the undulations which are frequent but not too challenging. Organisation was excellent and I look forward to seeing how other events do it as on first glance I'd say BG do a great job for a small village. I would say the race is at capacity now as the roads are quite narrow and couldn't accomodate many more runners without it becoming a less enjoyable run. Definitely recommended. In short: Good Race - fantastic local support well done marshalls In full: As usual the organisers were unlucky with the weather again, however I had no major concerns with this. The organisers did tell people to get there early which was a good tip due to the parking problems. The course is interesting and varied however I did get feedup of the bad camber in the road towards the end. Also a lot of slow runners started towards the front which made it difficult for the first 5 or so miles. Plus point was the medal which was of good quality, especially the printed ribbon. Minus point was the goody bag which pointless for most. The weather conditions were near ideal for this sort of race which lead to a PB of some 3 minutes! Well done to the Marshalls and the supporters around the course which gave us great encouragement. The field at the start and finish was like a mud bath at the end and this should be looked into for next year along with looking into access for transport. In all though well done to all. In short: Superb organization In full: Very efficient organisation from entering on line to seeing the results posted in the village hall minutes after finishing, with everything else in between. Only problem was the mud in the two car parks, my hopeless rear wheel drive car could not get into either.. Date of review: November 1, 2010

In short: Nice scenery, good atmosphere, muddy car park In full: A nice race through some nice countryside with a nice village feel. Some small hills with a short section along a track. Excellent marshals and organisation, parking aside.
Given the location of the race (a small village) there was clearly limited options for parking, although maybe a better plan for wet weather parking should be considered, given the last two year's weather! Maybe they could consider a shuttle bus to Horsham, as there are zero public transport options.
All-in-all a good mix of club runners and beginners with a nice friendly atmosphere.
