In short: A trip down memory lane for this veteran plodder In full: Last time I was on Marling's playing fields, I was playing their 4th XV at rugby. (We won.)
This was a tremendous race, down roads I travelled every day as a teenager on the way to and from school. (I went to Wycliffe College in Stonehouse.) The marshaling was efficient and friendly, the course was pretty flat and even the industrial estate wasn't too bad... Who would have thought that Stonehouse had so many firms in it?
Thanks folks, for an excellent day. And I really enjoyed being welcomed home by the commentator! Date of review: November 4, 2008

In short: The course, the course - it's so BORING In full: I've been running the Stroud Half for the last twenty years, and it feels like it. I suppose I should know what I'm letting myself in for, but I would respectfully request that the organisers take another look at the course. It's fine until about nine miles, and then ... it's HORRIBLE. The tedium of the endless roundabouts on the road to Stonehouse and beyond. The industrial estate (oh kill me now). Why don't they reverse the direction? At least that would get the most boring part out of the way early on? Date of review: November 3, 2008

In short: I'll be back every year! In full: Great, friendly race. Done it 6 times and will keep coming back. BUT when walking back to the car there were still some people finishing and I thought the commentator was being very rude. He suggested that they had taken so long that they must have stopped for a 3 course lunch on the way round; even guessing what they might have eaten. I though this very condescending to those that had obviously tried hard to complete the course. Date of review: November 3, 2008

In short: Well organised and friendly as usual. In full: Second Stroud Half Marathon and thoroughly enjoyed it again. Good organisation and a relaxed friendly atmosphere. A 3/4 mile gentle incline around 6 miles does not make this a hilly race by any stretch of the imagination. For me, this is a pretty flat course with PB potential. I'll be back next year because this race was again, a real pleasure. Date of review: October 31, 2008

In short: A must event if you live within a 25 mile radius In full: Excellent race well organised (as are all the Stroud races). Folks believe me you can't call it hilly, a few undulations here and there. Will be back next year and yes I got a PB but its getting harder! Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Another super race from Stroud AC In full: My fifth time doing Stroud and my fourth PB (one DNF). Nice group hitting sub-75mins, and despite taking a minute of walking with a stitch I got home within the AAA qualifying time for London Marathon. Top banana! Date of review: October 27, 2008
