In short: Unique event, and something for the family too!
In full: This race has a mix of everything: road, fields, steep tracks, wooded, flat, and steep! There's a great carnival atmosphere, and there are fun runs, toddler trots and 10k races before the Main Event. There is some entertainment for kids, but not much (a bouncy castle and a couple of fairground-like stalls). However, the best part for the family is taking a trip one one of the two trains to see the runners. The organisation is fantastic with 8 water stations, with an assortment of liquid refreshment. Definitely one to do again, but forget any chance of a PB!

In short: Hard Cross Country with Hills, Take the Family for the Weekend to Glorious Wales
In full: You need to run 7:30 Min Miles to the turn to stand a chance of beating the train, but even if you don't it is a wonderful day out and carnival atmosphere. A must-do. If you aren't too fit you will suffer. Trail shoes a good idea as a lot of the race is sidways across sloping fields so you need loads of grip. Get properly hydrated first.

In short: A classic summer cross-country feel to this race
In full: The best bit of racing the train is somehow it changes the atmosphere - it's runners against the train, not against each other! (Well, mostly). And crossing over the bridge on the way out just as the engine goes under it made the race for me.

In short: A unique experience.
In full: Scenic, plenty of water stops (and isotonic drinks, too), tough in parts and usually a hot day but hugely enjoyable.
My third year and bettered my time by 4 mins beating that dam train again !
