In short: Challenging but not too challenging! Prep needed.
In full: Always a great venue (done it c4 times)
Good mix of average and upwards ability runners. Baptism of fire for any 10k virgins (!). Don't bank on a pb. ;-)

In short: Good variation and solid under foot!
In full: The hills were a challenge, the down hill to the finish is great. Would have liked to have seen KM markers to help only 2m and 4m markers. No route included in mail pack. Everything else was great and the location is wonderful. Nice medal and well organised. Definitely one for the 2011 calendar

In short: Done it at last
In full: Although I live fairly local, first time of doing this. I have thought previously that it was over-priced but with the goodies and a very good medal i've changed my mind! (I think the organisers were trying to be eco friendly on the carrier bag side - there's no pleasing eveyone. Great course. I felt sorry for anyone who didn't know about the 'inclines' :-). But a great day out. Nowhere near a PB but one of those races thst give you a great sense of 'I've done it'. Definately one for the 2011 calender

In short: My 2nd year and the hills don't get any easier ... good event!!!
In full: My 2nd visit & a different course to last year (which had to be changed after the date was rearranged) but felt just as hard! Love the downhill run to the finish. Only disappointment this year was a few cars on the route which I don't remember last year, otherwise good event.

In short: A special race, worth returning for!
In full: This is the fourth time I've run the race and the hills do get easier. I managed to run the whole course for the frist time this year.
Although tough, this is a great course for beginners, as it is definitly not elitist.
Great goodies on the finish line. Not having a bag, meant you only took what you needed/wanted.
My only constructive criticism would be that it seemed really quiet this year prior to the start? I thought there was a PA making announcements before and firing everybody up as well as advising how long before the start? and we didn't hear any announcements before the start, just the starting horn (stood by 50-55min markers)
Well done and thank you Mike Gratton and team. Will definitly return again next year!

In short: the last hill was a killer, but the long drive end was superb
In full: A hard 10K but worth the aches today.

In short: A tough test in a magnificent setting
In full: This great race is a stern test of specific training:to run the hills strongly, control the downhills and open up down the long finishing straight. The unobtrusive efficiency of the organisation and the family atmosphere with children and even dogs cheering us on made it an event my daughter and I thoroughly appreciated.

In short: Watch out for the big hill twice!!!
In full: Back for the second year to do this and the course had been changed back to normal. A lot harder than the 1st time with the steep hill being done twice! Mike and the team have the organisation down to a tee and the marshalls were very helpful and full of encouragement.

In short: Sadistic Fun
In full: Very long and steep hills - it's a bit like fell running inasmuch as you are mostly either crawling up agonisingly never-ending sheer cliffs or racing on the verge of falling on your face down crazy hills. Very little of the course is flat. I've never seen so many people walking up hill before.

Having said that the organisation worked seamlessly and the parking was easy. My support crew thought it was good for supporters - but it's very memorable for runners - my legs are killing me the day after and I'm thinking maybe I'm too old for this kind of mountainous course - am I masochistic enough to do it again next year?? I'll let you know once the pain subsides!!
