In short: Great marshaling. Too many people for the start funnel. Goody bag poor, but then when packed it's mainly promo rubbish anyway. Quite undulating. The start time is too late by far. Shame the race doesn't take in the beauty of windsor and eton towns Date of review: September 27, 2010
In short: Undulating, challenging - that last mile feels like two! In full: As already said, full credit to the marshals they were absolutely fab! The course is a little challenging, but there are as many downhill stretches as there are upward ones. My only gripes would be the cups of water at water stations (why? especially when you're handing out bottles of lucozade at the same stations!) and the start, which could have been a little more streamlined. Other than that, a very nice race, and one I'll definitely be doing again. Date of review: September 27, 2010
In short: our first half marathon... and a tough hilly one at that in places. well organised at the start, and great support throughout the event from friends and family cheering everyone on around the great park course. Date of review: September 27, 2010
In short: A good first half marathon - easy to follow the throng and nice scenery- bit hiller than I'd like! In full: Was concerned about this choice for my first half after poor reviews last year. Gather the course has been altered though to reduce the number of hills and were some very pleasant down hills through much of the route. water stations were frequent and lucozade option was great - the young cadet marshals did a great job and were clearly enjoying the day and the same could be said for the venture scouts and cubs helping at the stations. My only gripes were the tiny snack size mars bar at the end and the extremely poor organisation on exiting the car park. Took an hour and ten minutes to reach the main road - if the same no of marshals had assisted with the exit as they did the entry i think it would have been a lot smoother. In short: First 2 miles too funnelled and bunched very well supported though In full: This was my first half marathon, had some tough parts, after 8 miles some of the hills took their toll on some. Downhill stretches even painfull due to lactic acid build up but beautiful scenery and I would echo the other contibutors who have praised the cadets and marshalls who were great encouraging all the way. What a long last mile though! Date of review: September 26, 2010
In short: A though 1/2 Marathon that makes marathons look like a walk in the park In full: A tough undulating (still hilly imho) 1/2 marathon.
The start could have been better organised, as we didn't even know the race had started. Better pace sections at the start could have been improved if people who were slower runners were not in that section, could have been easier if people were able to over take at the start instead of the very long fence section past the start. They could have provided a better goody bag than a fun sized mars bar & a lucozade after the race too.
Apart from those gripes a definite challenge that makes you feel proud of your achievement as you approach the finish on the long walk.
Marshals, cadets & scouts were very supportive throughout the course so a hearty thanks for that.
In short: A nice happy day In full: After delay caused by M4 closure parked the car at 4 minutes to 1pm and hurried down to the start. So pleased we made it. Fantastic course, great organisation, lovely medal, perfect weather, great friends to run race with and we all got PB's! Can't wait to next year. Date of review: September 26, 2010
In short: Went to windsor with a cold, come away with a newPB In full: Apart from the nightmare getting out of the carpark, a good day. Pratically flew around and knocked 4 minutes off my half marathon time. Date of review: September 26, 2010
In short: Challenging half In full: Not what I was hoping for - took forever to get to the race and a long while to get out of the car park too at the end. The race is in a nice setting, but strangely it's not once that sticks in the mind as particularly picturesque, my memory is more of a race where for 13 miles you're following a train of people. The course itself is a good one,but I couldn't really hit a rhythm because I was constantly having to check my stride. Serves me right for only just making it on time but I left early enough to arrive a good 1.5 hours early. Good medal at the end. Date of review: September 26, 2010
