In short: Great Race
In full: Really enjoyed this. Great organisation. I was in the orange wave and its the first time I've done a 'big' race without spending the first few miles dodging walkers.
10 miles is a great distance too. Will be back next year.

In short: Really enjoyable race.
In full: I really like the Great South Run, it's flat, it's fast.

The organisation was very good, it's not cheap to enter but I would definitely run this event again.

In short: A great day for your headphones to break
In full: I've always been a head down, ears full kind of runner. It must have been fate that made my headphones decide that the green holding pen was the place to stop working!

The local support for the race was amazing. There were two spots where spectators either weren't allowed or simply didn't occupy but they more than made up for it on the rest of the course. One area seemed to require armed police which was just a little off-putting but we all needed the laugh as we settled into that second mile. The 'Bands on the run' were an excellent addition, hearing a brass band version of YMCA certainly made my day, and the charity areas were all packed out.

As someone who lives in a world of hills, the flat course was a revelation. I finished wondering if I'd actually run, at least I would have if better sock choice had left my feet in better condition, and surpassed my own expectation in terms of my time. best of all, I got to overtake the legend that is Linvoy Primus.

In short: Need to be in first couple of waves to clock a PB, but still a great race
In full: This is a an excellent run, very quick route. Probably as flat as your likely to find in the south of the UK on road. You need to be in the first couple of waves to clock a PB, but even running from the back you can get a respectable time. Brilliant crowds, music, facilities. Praking can be tricky so get there early. Tshirt and medal are excellent. The race should be run in reverse as all the good bits (historic dockyard with HMS victory + warrior) are at about mile 3-4. Love this run.
