In short: Friendly and well-organised race over a picture-postcard English countryside course In full: An excellent multi-terrain race - mainly road and gravel but with a few sections through fields and woodland. The course seemed well designed to allow the field to spread before the narrower sections.
The start was delayed by 15 minutes, but it was always going to be challenging to get so many people parked in the available space in time - not a big problem. Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Excellent race, just too damn short! In full: I could have ran the course all day! Felt disapointed at 6k that it would nearly be over. Even though it was a multi terain run the course has pb potential. Was pleased that the start was delayed because I was still sat in my car when it was supposed to start! Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Real fun and a challenge to boot In full: What a great run! OK the start was delayed but for good reason and no-one really minded did they? Good and varied multi terrain course, no view of Didcot Power station (hurray!!)and I knew I'd run it at the end - well worth it - see you next year and save me a cake! Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Beautiful village race with fete-like atmosphere @ start/finish In full: There were problems - a stately convoy of cars processing right through the village & out the other end & then up a steep & slippery track into the parking field AND a huge queue for the ladies, but they put back the start time and directed some of the ladies to a couple of "secret" toilets and all was well in the end. I had looked at the course map & thought "hilly" but having done it would say "undulating". Not one for a PB as off-road, congested @ start, and a lot of the route too narrow to overtake, but VERY pretty, footing not dangerous @ all, and TWO water tables. Good way to start a summer's racing! Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: some tough inclines in scenic venue In full: Had done this race in 2006, but forgotten it is some tough work! The multi terrain footing and constant ups and downs, some of them fairly steep made for a relieving feel at the finish
again as per 2006 the race had to be delayed. And again did I only see 2 toilets? Not good enough in a race with 400people. Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Hard multi-terrain 10k, but well worth running In full: I found this race tough, but I had been suffering with a cold for the last week. Having set a 10k road PB 2 weeks ago I was disappointed to be 4 minutes off that pace, but agree with someone else's comments that you should expect a time 2 mins slower than your road pace.
The scenery is great, the course mixed including roads, fields, woodland tracks, metalled tracks with pot holes, and finishing on a village green. The mix of surface was interesting, but not too disruptive.
I definatley want to do it again next year in a better time. Date of review: June 4, 2007
