In short: Good race and like Sheffield a lot. In full: I think the organisation could have been a little better - hole block of toilets were closed. Plus not a fan of cups of water, would much prefer small bottles. It just ends up going up your nose and you have to slow down/stop to have a good intake of water. Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Great fun and great organisation..well done Sheffield!!! In full: Really enjoyed the race and the venue. Excellent organisation, plent of water stations, loads of marshalls and fantastic support.
Particularly the leg up Ecclesall Road, thakns to everyone who turned out in the drizzle to support all the competitors...see you next year! Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Excellent organisation, quick course and good support. In full: First time doing my 'home city race'. Pre-race organisation was first class as were the arrangements at Don Valley. The course is about as flat as you can get in Sheffield and the miles around the industrial areas are certainly worth doing in order to get the fantastic stadium start and finish. Great support along Ecclesall Road, although spectators standing in the road did make it a little narrow in places.
Only complaint would be that, for the price, I would have expected more at the finish. Not impressed at being given two cans of Red Bull when a proper sports drink would have been more welcome! Surely with all the sponsors involved a proper goodie bag could be put together.
Nice touch to be able to get your medal engraved with your time at the end - especially as I managed a PB! Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Again another good year, plenty of support along on the way from the people of Sheffield , would be good if we could have another part of the route with people playing music and singing Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Good race, not too hilly, lots of support en-route, lots of drink stations, would definitely do again! In full: I wasn't looking forward to this race initially given the forecast of "heavy rain" but it turned out to be a really good race, with only moderate rain which even eased off part way round! The plentiful drinks stations were good, and well signposted, depsite other people's comments, and yes, bottles are far better for being able to drink out of but also more expensive. My only two complaints about the race were a) the trip round the top of the stadium at the end - very disheartening when you're so close to the finish and b) the lack of visible support from the marshals - most of whom looked positively bored and instead of cheering the runners on just stood there and yawned. This lack of support was more than made up for, however, by the roadside supporters who braved the weather to support us Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Great Race, fantastic finish, great route - not enough toilets !! In full: First time I had done this race, great to run through the city, others mention the fact that other city runs have now gone into parks etc, great to run in the city and through subways / car park !Water Stations good, maybe small bottles would make it better ? mileage markers should be better - missed a few for some reason - surprised with new PB thought course was quite hilly in places but nothing too heavy - see you next year !!
