In short: An enjoyable race, let down by some slight organisational issues. In full: For my first race, I was, on the whole, very happy. The weather was fantastic, perhaps a bit too warm for me. Atmosphere was good, and I came away feeling like a part of a big happy running family! I missed the worst of the traffic on the way in, so my only real gripe was the chip bins. I walked straight past them, twice! Bigger signs needed I think, though next time I'll know what to look for. All in all I had a cracking day out, and I've already signed up for Walkington in June. In short: very poor organisation In full: parking was chaos , as was travel by car for some, far too many runners this year, the organisers could not cope, on the plus side very good crowd support and potential pb course, the overall feeling is that the organisers are trying to increase numbers to maximise money taken and were not capable of organising such an event Date of review: April 5, 2011

In short: Great race, best organisation so far. Late starting again though, and for the entry fee the goody bag was poor In full: Good well organised race. The start organisation was excellent, although people still go into a group beyond their capability and hold you up after a mile or so. The route was good, support on the course from the public was excellent. A scenic finish to the route in the Cathedral and castle section is nice, even if the cobbled area is tough on your feet. The actual organisation of the finish are was much better this year BUT getting out of the lawns area was hideous, and needs sorting for future years. The goody bag was poor... a medal, a silver blanket (not needed) and a bottle of water. For the entry fee we pay this ought to be better and include a snack (mars, fruit) and the ought to be a tshirt. Tshirts only cost £1.20 to produce, probably less for 5000, so this ought to be included and not up for sale at £7 per shirt. The race was again over 10 minutes late starting and this seems to be a common theme every year. This also needs sorting out. Runners after doing their warm up are kept hanging around and is unnacceptable. The race start time was 11am that gives you over 4 hours to clear the roads, surely enough time to tow any cars away that are on the course. All in all a good race but needs refining to make it great. Date of review: April 4, 2011

In short: They've made it too big and the city can't cope with that many people. In full: Have done this the last 3 yrs and loved it. Was worried this yr when I saw they had around 5,000 entries and my fears were right when there were massive tailbacks to get into lincoln, no parking (had to jump out and leave my wife to find a parking space to avoid missing the start), delayed start (pretty normal for this race!) and congestion for the fist 3/4 kms. Won't do it again unless they reduce the numbers, as for expanding to 7,000 i can only imagine the chaos if they do! They are in danger of permanently ruining a good "little" race. Great medal (rare these days and I prefer it to another t-shirt which wouldn't get used), but awful "goody" bag. Date of review: April 4, 2011

In short: Good organisation, traffic congestion. In full: The 10K event Officer stated on local TV that they would push for 7000+ next year, it is too much for the area. Many people got dropped off on the approach to the Lincoln bypass due to the massive tail back on the A15. We eventually turned right on to the bypass and managed to park in Long Leys Road at 10.30, a bit of a rush! The organisation went well for me, finished well within the top 10% so baggage area etc was still quiet. Good crowd support throughout. Very poor good bag, lots of bits of paper, a medal and a bottle of water. Not sure if I would enter again, bit pricey and just too much hassle to get there, even from Grimsby. Too much waiting around at the start, pointless warming up and then standing for ages, luckily it was warm! Date of review: April 4, 2011
