In short: Worth running just for the cake at the end
In full: I had never run this before but heard various reports about it being hilly. So I was prepared for the worst, it wasn't that bad, apparently the course has been changed this year, the consesus being that it was better than before. Apart from the long cold walk to the start and the unfortunate(wrenching) stink at the start I enjoyed the race a great deal. My complements to the ladies on the refreshments particuarly the cakes which were first class.

In short: Chellenging, cold, but enjoyable
In full: The race HQ being so far from the start was a definite novelty and not really recommended. If it had been raining at the finish it would have been horrible. On the other hand the course was great with some really tough inclines over rough tracks to make it very interesting, marshalls were encouraging, scenery was very pleasant and I ran a "PB". (Fastest time this century but some way off what I used to when I was a young un.). Overall, I really enjoyed the day.

In short: For a first time racer since school (20+ years ago) it was fun
In full: Lots of previous comments about distance from HQ to start/finish which I'd have to agree with. However as it was my first competitive race since school (which was a long time ago) I thought it was a good route, well organised, very well marshalled, I appreciated the very clear mile markers and the chocolate cake was excellent.

In short: A long way from the HQ
In full: This was the first 10 mile race that both my wife & I had run since 2000!, but that didn't stop the wife from grabbing the prize for 3rd V35 home.
Thankfully it wasn't raining as that would have made a torrid race.
Overall It was a long way from the HQ to the start but thankfully we had our race support crew to help us out.
Plus side, It was a nice course with a few hills to work my legs out on & it was mostly traffic free.
Down side, The distance from the HQ to start/finish.
Overall. I enjoyed it, and the chocoalte cake was fab!
See you next year!

In short: I thought it was a 10 mile race not a Half!
In full: I found the HQ fine, and the facilities were really good and well managed - the problem for me was the 1.5 mile walk to the start, and even worse the walk back from the finish. I don't know why the club couldn't have arranged the circuit to come in closer to the HQ.
on the positive, some of the countryside was good although we were isolated from any support, the T-shirts are great and although I missed the chocolate cake my coffee and walnut cake was excellent.

In short: Being a positive type of person I will mention the very friendly helpful and obviously hardy marshalls..shame there weren`t more of them at the start or at HQ
In full: Very disappointing today, dragged myself out of bed, drove for about an hour, found a car park, ran to the college site where I was unable to locate HQ or anyone other than other runners like myself who had been unable to find any signs or people to point us in the right direction. Finally met 3 other like minded runners who like myself still wanted to run today ( as opposed to the many we met who gave up and went home)and armed with a map of the course and transport we drove along the course until we met with the tail end of runners and managed to run part of the race..hence my knowledge of the friendly marshalls. What little I saw of the course was enjoyable and if you could sort out the signpost and the distance from Hq and carparking to the start of the race I`m sure I could be tempted to do it again. thanks to Paul for the lift and to Helen and Emily for the cameradery and support!

In short: A great race, slightly let down by the start/finish.
In full: Apart from the walk to the start and the necessary return journey, this was another well organised race from the BSRC group. Marshals, drinks, mile markers, and the T-shirt were all excellent.

I'm not sure how I'd've felt about walking back if there had been rain like that which came about a little later on...and that's still persisting as I type. Perhaps that van at the end could hold onto coats/jackets/macs for the runners who are too shattered to run back to the HQ.

The new course seems to have a few more undulations than the old one, but as a course I reckon it's preferable.

As it's one of my regulars, I'll certainly be back next year.

In short: Very Enjoyable
In full: The new course was great fun. Much better then before. Yes, the hill for the last mile was challenging but it made for an interesting finish. It was cold but, hey it is November! The jog back to HQ was a good warm down and the excellent tee shirt kept me warm on the way back. Thanks for a great morning. See you next year.

In short: Great scenery, encouraging marshalls, really friendly
In full: I really enjoyed this. Yes, the start was a little way from HQ, but scenery and terrain made up for it. I liked seeing the first runners come back against those of us who were out for some fun on a Sunday morning! The walk back at the end at least forced me in to a cool down - rather than just jumping in to the car. And yes, the chocolate cake was fantastic! Thanks to all those marshalls standing out in the freezing cold giving encouragement.
