In short: Fabulous In full: I love this run-as i'm a slow runner it isn't a race for me! I preferred the mass start. In previous years I've gone with the first (slow) groups and-at various points in the race-the faster runners thundered by and I've always worried about slowing them up as they hunt their PBs. This year I started at the back and stayed there and just enjoyed the experience, especially the extra hill. Date of review: January 1, 2011

In full: This is my third Knacker Cracker, its a while since I did the last one, but I managed to improve my personal time by 5 mins, so I am very happy!! Sorry to read some of the reviews from slower finishers.I enjoyed the new format. As Dr Rob says this race would not be possible withjout the amazing team of Marshalls and St John Ambulance, thank you to one and all. I am sure I will be back, and I am not one of the faster runners, I finished in 1:35, for those of you that were unhappy please re-consider for next year. Date of review: January 1, 2011

In short: Another year another excellent Knacker Cracker!! In full: Thanks, Dr Rob for another challenging start to the New Year. Brilliant atmosphere, very, very tough course with the usual combination of back breaking climbs and slippery descents. Great t-shirt and novelty mug to remind me of the day and already looking forward to next year (if I survive my second attempt at the Picnic!!)> Date of review: January 1, 2011

In short: After 4 years of doing it, Dissapointed this year! In full: Normally I would be sat here raving about how fantastic this event is, I along with a pal have completed it 4 times and look forward to it every New Years Day. 2011 was not a good event for those now at the 'back' of the race.
I would like to start by saying that the marshalls were fantastic and that the pre 'race' organisation was fantastic too.
However the new mass start didnt work for us, unfortunately we are not the fastest of runners, which in previous years didnt matter due to the 'wave' starts, but we were left bringing up the rear with other great runners only to finish to NO nice momentoes that every one else seemed to recieve. As previously mentioned by another 'back' runner the medal and t-shirt will be sent on, but when paying good money for what is normally a very good event I would like to feel I have left with what I have earnt!.
Also because we did take so long we missed the prize giving event, which last year was great fun and really added to the atmosphere.
Not so sure I will enter again next year as feel very dissapointed. Date of review: January 1, 2011

In short: Suicidal but FUN In full: If it wasn't suicidally tough it just wouldn't be as much fun. To get through without losing a limb was the target and getting a PB was a bonus (For this course)

In short: Somewhat deflated In full: After spectating last year I had really been looking forward to starting 2011 on a high and enjoying a fun but challenging run around Boxhill, taking things easy and running with my wife for a change.
Thanks to all the marshals - great support and help. A pity that the organisation left a less than memorable feeling in our minds.
This is a view from the back of the race.
Last year there seemed to be a great spirit with runners passing through in little groups, mainly due to the staggered start times, slower runners were always in a group with others not stretched out at the back of the event like they are in most competetive events. The new massed start and having to head downhill before then going back up seemed to have killed that spirit off.
This added to all those at the back 'missing' out on a T - shirt and 2011 medal to take away on the day spoilt things, now i know how my wife feels at most events, finishing after all the drinks and food have gone and feeling as though she is keeping timekeepers waiting, hope they stayed to record the last finisher who was still running the last half mile when we were on our way back up the hill to the car park.
The organiser's will post the medal and T shirt later but it is not quite the same as having something to take away on the day.
Comments have been made here and elsewhere on the rising cost of Trionium events and whilst agreeing that they have always offered great value and good memento's in the past care has to be taken to ensure that everyone entering - including those at the back benefit and leave feeling that they have contributed to a great event.

In short: Can't think of a better way to start the New Year, my 4th time, I've been smiling all day ! In full: Great fun, worth it just to see the outfits, people are encouraging but it's tough enough to make you feel like you've earned the generous momentos. Lovely L/s running top with names printed on the back, mug and a medal. Soup and roll very welcome too. Thanks to Dr McCaffery, his family and all those who made it happen.
